HAYNES LEADS BASEBALL EXPLOSION IN THE EIGHTH IN 15-8 WIN AT UALBANY

SYRACUSE, NY-Junior Chris Haynes blasted a three run homer to right center to give the Dolphins their first lead of the game. The Dolphins would put pressure on the Great Danes pitching staff early in the eighth inning scattering eight runs on six hits. The Dolphins' freshman Corey Nelson would pick up the no decision. It was sophomore Tom McDermott who would shut down Albany through three innings of scoreless work, striking out five. The Dolphins capture their second win this season over Albany, 15-8, and improve to 25-20 on the season. Albany drops to 12-35-1.

The Great Danes jumped on the Dolphins' lefty early in the first inning with two home runs off of Nelson. After settling down in the second and throwing up a scoreless inning, the lefty would run into more trouble early in the third. It was junior Brandon Otto who would provide the first sign of relief work for the Dolphins. Otto helped stop the bleeding, allowing only one run through 2.2 innings.

Four Dolphins would take Albany's offerings over the fence. Junior Chris Haynes would provide the go-ahead home run early in the eighth inning.  Senior Corey O'Neill would follow Haynes three run blast with a follow up solo shot. Senior Robby Perez and sophomore Chris Edmondson would also go deep for the Dolphins. Edmondson would collect his tenth home run of the season, placing him at the top of all Dolphins.

The Great Danes offense would come to a screeching halt after the fourth inning. McDermott would pick up his first win of the season in relief.

The Dolphins return home the weekend of May 10th and 11th for a three-game series against Rider. First pitch Saturday is set for noon.
