South Easton, Mass. - Senior forward Laurence Ekperigin">Laurence Ekperigin (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball player of the week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Ekperigin, the conference's Player of the Year last season, averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game last week to lead the Dolphins to a pair of victories. Ekperigin, who has reached double-digits in scoring in 28 straight games dating back to last season, scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in an 88-64 win over Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday in the conference-opener for both teams. On Saturday, Ekperigin scored 30 points, tied for the second-highest total in his career, and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds as the Dolphins rallied from a 14-point second half deficit for a 79-68 victory at Queens. In the second half of the Queens contest, Ekperigin scored 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-for-5 shooting at the foul line, while also grabbing seven rebounds in all 20 minutes. With his performance against the Knights, Ekperigin moved up to 10th place on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,410 career points.
Le Moyne (3-0, NE-10 1-0), which is off to its best start since the 1997-98 season, returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24 against American International at 7:30 p.m.
