MBB: JAMES CORMIER NAMED NORTHEAST-10 FRESHMAN OF THE
WEEK
South Easton, Mass. - Le Moyne College freshman James Cormier (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull/Proctor Academy) has
been named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week, as
announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Cormier, a 5-foot, 10-inch guard, picked up his first Northeast-10
weekly honor following the Dolphins' 2-1 week. Cormier, who
averaged 6.1 points and three assists per contest as a starter in
all 30 games played this season, opened the week with six points
and a pair of steals in Le Moyne's 80-66 victory over second-seeded
Stonehill in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 tournament. In
the 61-55 victory over seventh-seeded Southern New Hampshire in the
semifinals, Cormier connected on three three-pointers and drilled
four free throws in the final minute of play. In Le Moyne's 77-63
loss at fifth-seeded Assumption in the championship game, Cormier
recorded five points and four steals.
Le Moyne, which finished the season at 20-11, won 13 of its final
15 games, with the two setbacks coming against Assumption. The 20
victories mark the most in a season since the 1997-98 season.
