Buffalo, NY - Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, NY / CNS) connected for three hits and drove in three to lead Le Moyne to a 7-3 victory over Buffalo on Wednesday at Amherst Audubon. With the win, Le Moyne improves to 11-17 on the year as Buffalo falls to 14-20.
Le Moyne jumped on Buffalo starter Chaze Mye with three runs in the top half of the first inning on five hits. Matt Marra (Brewerton, NY / Central Square) drove home two early runs on a single through the left side to plate Nandin and Chris Haynes (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius). Marra advanced to third on a balk and later scored on a single by Rich Brown (Vestal, NY / Vestal).
The Bulls responded in the bottom half of the first scratching for one run on a run-scoring single by Chris Ciesla. The game remained scoreless until the fifth when Nandin plated freshman Dan Sisto (Liverpool, NY / CBA) for theon an infield single. Buffalo countered once again in their half of the fifth with a run on a sacrifice fly by Charlie Karstedt, pulling the Bulls within two at 4-2.
Both teams tacked on another run in the sixth inning, but the Dolphins put the game away in the seventh as Nandin connected for his third single of the day to give the Dolphins a 7-3 advantage.
Freshman Erick Lambe (Vestal, NY / Vestal) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth inning to secure the victory for Le Moyne. The pitching committee of Cory Nelson (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius), Mark Kuzma (Waverly, NY / Waverly), Luke Nellis (Fonda, NY / Fonda-Fultonville) and Lambe combine to hold Buffalo to seven hits while striking out seven.
Le Moyne returns to Dick Rockwell Field on Friday to begin a four game series with Longwood University. The Dolphins and Lancers will begin the weekend series with a single game on Friday beginning at 3:00 p.m.
