BINGHAMTON RALLIES FOR 12-11 OVERTIME VICTORY OVER WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Syracuse, N.Y. - Freshman Lis Zuern tallied the game-tying and game-winning goals to lead Binghamton University to a 12-11 come-from-behind overtime victory over Le Moyne College in non-conference women's lacrosse action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Le Moyne got on the scoreboard first on an unassisted tally by sophomore Rebekah Elmer (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) at the 27:23 mark. Zuern answered back 20 seconds later to knot the score. Junior Jackie Lundblad (Marietta, N.Y./Marcellus) and sophomore Mia Valletta (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) scored around a Binghamton goal by Ali Castiglie to take a 3-2 advantage. The Bearcats responded with three straight goals, including two by Zuern, to take their largest lead of the contest.

The Dolphins answered Binghamton's 3-0 run with a 6-0 run to close out the final 14:40 of the first half. Elmer began the streak with a goal off a feed from Valletta to pull the Dolphins within one. Sophomore Leah Lazarz (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) tallied back-to-back goals off feeds from Elmer and senior McKenzie Gray (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) to give Le Moyne the lead. Elmer, Valletta and classmate Katlin Walker (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) each added goals as the Dolphins took a 9-5 lead into halftime.

Following a goal by sophomore Nerissa Barzee (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville) at the 22:00 mark of the second half, the Bearcats rattled off five consecutive goals in a span of seven minutes and 40 seconds to tie the score at 10 apiece. Castiglie put in her third goal of the contest with 20:58 remaining, while Kaitlyn Concialdi, Meg Brown and Beth Moore converted free-position shots and Lisa Illig scored off a feed from Zuern.

Barzee put in an unassisted goal with 10:58 to give the Dolphins their final advantage of the game. Zuern evened the score at 11-11 with 6:05 remaining, but neither team was able to score in the final six minutes of regulation. Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) stopped a pair of point-blank shots eight seconds apart to keep the score tied. Following a save on a Le Moyne free-position shot, Zuern converted a free-position shot of her own to give the Bearcats the lead. The Dolphins recorded four shots on goal in the final 3:42 of overtime, but Bearcats goalkeeper Emily Miller was able to keep the Dolphins off the scoreboard.

Fucillo stopped 16 shots in between the pipes in all 66 minutes of action, while Miller posted seven saves in 45:55 of action.

Le Moyne (5-8) travels to Durham, N.H. to take on 18th-ranked New Hampshire on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
