#12 SOFTBALL DOWNS #20 GEORGIAN COURT, 2-0, IN EAST SUPER REGIONALS TO FORCE DECIDING GAME

Syracuse, N.Y. - Sophomore pitcher Jenna Vanacore (Hicksville, N.Y./Holy Trinity) tossed a two-hitter and struck out four batters to lead the 12th-ranked Le Moyne College softball team to a 2-0 win over Georgian Court in the second game of the NCAA East Super Regional at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. Game three, the deciding game of the best-of-3 series, was suspended due to weather with the Dolphins leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The game will be resumed on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

Le Moyne jumped in front of the Lions in the second inning on a solo home run to left center by junior left fielder Bailey Phillips (Rochester, N.Y./Greece-Arcadia), her first home run of the season.

The Dolphins added an insurance run in the third inning on two hits and an error. Freshman right fielder Kelcie Cashel (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek) singled down the right field line with one out. After a groundout moved Cashel to second, junior second baseman Kelly Schweikert (Rochester, N.Y./Spencerport) singled to left field to drive in Cashel and advanced to third on a throwing error by the left fielder.

Vanacore, a first team NFCA All-Region selection, tossed five and two-thirds innings before giving up a base hit. First team All-Region selection Rachel Ruch broke up the no-hit bid with a double down the left field line and Marissa Van Cleef followed with a single through the right side. Vanacore got out of the first and third jam by striking out All-Region outfielder Mallory Kirchner. Vanacore completed the shutout with a groundout and two strikeouts. Phillips and Schweikert each contributed two of the Dolphins' seven hits. First team All-Region pitcher Diana Sansevera, who held the Dolphins to just four hits in a 4-1 win on Friday, suffered the loss to fall to 27-9 on the season.

The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the NCAA Division II World Series in Salem, Va., which will be held May 21-25.
