Rindge, N.H. – Shortstop Tito Lluberes had three hits, three runs batted in and scored four runs to lead Saint Anselm to a 14-8 win over the #20/21 Le Moyne College baseball team in the sixth game of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship at Pappas Field.

The Dolphins (36-13-1) fall into the loser's bracket and will take on New Haven in an elimination game on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Saint Anselm got on the scoreboard first with a run on one hit in the bottom of the first inning. Lluberes led off the frame with a ground-rule double to left field and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. Lluberes then raced home on a wild pitch.

Le Moyne responded with two runs on three hits and a Saint Anselm error in the top of the second inning. Junior shortstop Ryan Mahoney (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) led off with a single through the left side and advanced to second on a single by sophomore left field Pat Wiese (Fayetteville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy). After Wiese advanced to second as Mahoney was caught stealing, junior first baseman Paul Speicher (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) reached on an error by the shortstop, which allowed Wiese to score. Senior catcher Kyle Kalaka (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) then doubled to plate Speicher.

The Dolphins extended their lead to 4-1 win two runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Junior right fielder Zack Wiley (Toluca Woods, Calif./Crespi) singled up the middle with one out and moved to second on a single to left by senior third baseman Matt Marra (Brewerton, N.Y./Central Square). After Mahoney walked to load the bases, Wiese singled up the middle to drive in Wiley and Marra.

The Hawks scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning to regain the lead. Lluberes walked to start the inning, second baseman Richie Manzi was hit by a pitch and first baseman Robert Kelly drew a walk to load the bases. Right fielder Daniel DeCoste followed by lifting a sacrifice fly to center to plate Lluberes. Two batters later, designated hitter Mike Hayden singled up the middle to drive in Manzi and Kelly. Catcher Nate Gonya followed with a double to left field to plate Hayden with the go-ahead run. After a single by third baseman Jeffrey Criscuolo, center fielder Andrew Chandler singled to the shortstop to knock in Gonya.

The Dolphins scored once in the top of the fifth and once in the sixth to even the game at six apiece. In the fifth, Mahoney blasted a two-out solo home run to right, his sixth of the year. In the sixth, the Dolphins plated a run on two hits. Speicher led off with a single up the middle and advanced to third on back-to-back ground outs. Senior center fielder Brett Botsford (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) then singled back to the pitcher to drive in Speicher.

Saint Anselm regained the lead in the bottom of the frame with eight runs on four hits and a Le Moyne error. Lluberes opened the inning with a single to left center and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Kelly then drew a walk and DeCoste was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Left fielder Dan Lagasse followed with a single to right to drive in Lluberes and Kelly for an 8-6 lead. After Hayden reached on an error to load the bases, Gonya was hit by a pitch to force in DeCoste. Criscuolo then singled to center off Le Moyne's third pitcher of the inning to knock in Lagasse. After a pop out to the shortstop for the second out of the frame, Lluberes tripled to center to drive in Hayden, Gonya and Criscuolo. Lluberes then raced home on a wild pitch for his team's final run of the game.
