Syracuse, N.Y. – Marissa Mills scored four goals and Jordann Dempsey made six second-half saves to lead second-ranked Adelphi to its third straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship with a 13-12 win over the top-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

Le Moyne, despite falling to 16-2 on the season, earned the top seed in the North Region in the NCAA Championships and a bye into the NCAA semifinals in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, May 17. The Dolphins will face either third-seeded C.W. Post or second-seeded Adelphi in the semifinals. The Pioneers and the Panthers will meet at C.W. Post on Saturday, May 12 in the NCAA First Round.

Mills opened the scoring in the game with her 47th goal of the year just 1:02 into the contest.

The Dolphins answered with a pair of goals four and one-half minutes apart to take the lead. Northeast-10 Player of the Year Brittany Brigandi (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/UMass) evened the score at one apiece with 27:54 remaining with her 62nd goal of the season. Junior attacker Brenna Bauer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) tallied her 51st goal of the campaign with 23:21 left in the stanza.

The teams then traded goals over a stretch of almost six minutes. Mills evened the score at two with 22:49 remaining on a free-position shot, but Brigandi gave the lead back to the Dolphins with a free-position goal of her own with 18:13 left. With 17:34 left in the half, Devan Crimi finished off a pass from Mills to knot the score at three. Just 43 seconds later, Bauer gave the Dolphins their final lead of the game with an unassisted goal.

Adelphi scored the game's next two goals to reverse its one-goal deficit. Erica Devito tied the game for the fourth time with her 60th goal of the year with 16:06 to play. Alexa Froccaro put the Panthers in front with an unassisted goal with 14:00 left.

The teams then split the half's final six goals over the last 10:28. Sophomore midfielder Jennifer Fabian (Clay, N.Y./C.W. Baker) evened the score at five apiece with a free-position goal in an extra-man situation with 10:28 to go. Meg Brown regained the lead for Adelphi by going coast-to-coast for her 37th goal at the 8:43 mark. Less than one minute later, freshman midfielder Anna Daucher (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) scored from the right edge of the crease off a feed from Fabian. Adelphi took the lead back just 48 seconds later as Devito scored for the 61st time this year. After almost five minutes of scoreless action, Bauer tied the game for the seventh and final time by converting a free-position shot with 1:25 left in the half. The Panthers took the lead for good as Sara Sangiorgio scored the front edge of the crease off a pass from behind the cage by Michelle Ceraso with 1:02 left.

The Panthers scored the first four goals of the second half to extend their lead to 12-7. Just like the first half, Mills scored early in the second half with her third goal of the day coming at the 29:09 mark. She pushed her team's lead to three goals with a drive from the left side with 25:41 remaining. Ceraso then found the back of the net with 22:58 left, while Crimi followed with an unassisted goal with 20:06 remaining.

Sophomore attacker Kathleen Conese (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) ended Adelphi's run and Le Moyne's scoring drought of 12:06 with her 38th goal of the year on a free-position shot with 19:19 remaining.

Ceraso extended her team's lead back to five with 13:35 remaining after scooping up a loose ball on right edge of the eight-meter fan.

The Dolphins then attempted to rally, scoring four goals in the final 10 and one-half minutes of the game. Daucher started the comeback by converting a free-position shot with 10:30 left. After the teams traded turnovers, Conese scored off a free-position shot with 5:55 left to pull the Dolphins within 13-10. The Dolphins won the ensuing draw, which led to a free-position goal by Bauer just 45 seconds after Conese's goal. Adelphi controlled the next draw and was able to run two minutes and 45 seconds off the clock before Brown threw the ball out of bounds. Conese pulled the Dolphins within a goal by driving to the front of the crease from the right wing to register her 40th goal of the season with 1:24 to play. Ceraso won the following draw and the Panthers were able to run the clock out.

Senior goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) took the loss in between the pipes for the Dolphins after making one save (against 12 goals allowed) in just under 40 minutes of action. Dempsey, named the Championship Most Valuable Player, finished the game with eight saves to earn the win.
