Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team closed out the home portion of its season with a 3-0 win over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday evening at Ted Grant Court.

After the teams went back-and-forth over the first 15 points of the opening set, the Dolphins rattled off four straight points and seven of the next nine to take control. The Yellow Jackets countered with a 4-0 spurt, but the Dolphins tallied 10 of the last 13 points for a 25-16 victory.

American International scored four of the first six points of the second set and still led 6-5 before the Dolphins nine consecutive points and 13 of the next 14 points for an 18-7 lead. After the Yellow Jackets closed within 21-12, Le Moyne recorded the last four points for a 25-12 win.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the third set and held a 9-7 advantage before the Dolphins tallied seven straight points. After the teams traded points, resulting in an 18-13 Le Moyne lead, the Yellow Jackets scored nine of the next 14 points to cut their deficit to one. The Dolphins took advantage of an AIC service error and sophomore outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) slammed down a kill for a 25-22 win to end the match.

Casson led the Dolphins in the match offensively with a .450 hitting percentage after recording nine kills without committing an error, while adding six digs. Senior middle hitter Kristen Willets (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) posted eight kills and three blocks in her final home match, while sophomore middle Allegra Lee Bell (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) registered seven kills and a block. Senior setter Megan Maisonet (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) directed the offense with 31 assists, while adding five digs and three kills.

Caitlin Sobolewski led the Yellow Jackets in the setback with eight kills, while Lauren Pires added seven. Vanessa Ruiz dished out 14 assists in the match and posted a team-high five digs.

Le Moyne (10-11, 7-5 NE-10) enters its final two matches of the season vying for one of the two remaining berths in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. The Dolphins open the weekend on Friday at Stonehill College at 5:00 p.m.
