VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO BENTLEY, 3-0, TO CLOSE OUT SEASON

Waltham, Mass. – Simone Silvera recorded 14 kills to lead Bentley University to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team at the Dana Center on Saturday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference regular season finale for both teams.

The Dolphins close out the season with a record of 10-13, including a mark of 7-7 in conference action. They finish the season in ninth place in the conference standings, a match out of eighth, while their .500 winning percentage in conference play is their best mark since the 2009 season.

After the Dolphins used a 5-2 spurt to take a 12-8 lead in the opening set, the Falcons responded with seven straight points to take the lead. The Dolphins closed within 18-17, but Bentley countered with four straight points and seven of the last 10 for a 25-20 win.

Following an attack error by Silvera to open the second set, the Falcons tallied four consecutive points and 10 of the next 14 to open up a 10-5 lead. Le Moyne answered with a 6-2 run to get within 12-11, but the Falcons rattled off four straight points and 13 of the last 17 for a 25-15 victory.

Bentley closed out the match with a 25-22 win in the third set.

In her final collegiate match, senior middle hitter Kristen Willets (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) led the Dolphins with a .286 hitting percentage, nine kills and three solo blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Andrea Buchanan (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) registered 10 kills, three assists and three digs, while classmate Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) posted seven kills and 10 digs. Senior setter Megan Maisonet (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) dished out 24 assists and recorded nine digs, while sophomore libero Annie Stoklosa (Victor, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) had a team-best 13 digs.

In addition to her match-high kill total, Silvera hit .423 and recorded three blocks and had an assist. Jaci Buscher recorded nine kills, 11 digs and two service aces. Alex Tator directed the offense with 35 assists, while adding four kills and four digs. Lauren Colasanti led the Falcons defensively with 14 digs.
