VOLLEYBALL OPENS WEEKEND WITH 3-0 WIN OVER STONEHILL

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team improved to 3-0 at home this season with a 3-0 victory over Stonehill College on Friday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant court.

The Dolphins opened the match with a come-from-behind victory in the first set with a 25-23 win. The Dolphins faced deficits of 17-12, 21-16 and 22-18 before scoring seven of the last eight points of the set. Le Moyne doubled its lead in the match with a 25-21 win in the second set. The Dolphins closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the third set.

Junior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) led the Dolphins in the match with nine kills and eight digs. Freshman middle hitter Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) also tallied nine kills and added three blocks. Junior outside hitter Andrea Buchanan (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) hit .353 in the match and had eight kills and four digs through two sets. Sophomore setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) directed the offense with 33 assists, while freshman libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) registered 11 digs.

Kelsey Weymouth led the Skyhawks in the setback with eight kills and a match-high 12 digs. Marykay Nasby and Megan Pennino each posted seven kills, while Pennino had two service aces and two digs. Taylor Stevens led the offense with 25 assists and two kills, while adding five digs and two service aces.

Le Moyne (15-6, 6-3 NE-10), which beat Stonehill for the first time since 2009 and for the first time in three sets since 2004, returns to the court on Saturday against Bentley University at 12:00 p.m.
