VOLLEYBALL CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH 3-0 WIN OVER SAINT ANSELM

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team registered its third 3-0 victory of the week by topping Saint Anselm College on Saturday morning at Ted Grant Court to close out the regular season with its best conference record in 11 years.

The Dolphins (19-7, 10-4 NE-10) will be the fourth seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships and host The College of Saint Rose in the first round on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The Dolphins defeated the Golden Knights, 3-2, at home in the regular-season matchup on September 22. Le Moyne's 10 conference victories tie the 2000, 2002 and 2004 teams for the second-most conference wins in Le Moyne's 20 seasons in the NE-10. Le Moyne's nine-win improvement from last season (10-13) is the biggest increase by the program since the 1995 squad posted 25 wins after winning 10 matches the previous season.

The Dolphins tallied the first seven points of the day en route to a 25-21 win in the first set. Saint Anselm answered Le Moyne's 7-0 start with six of the next seven points to get within two. Le Moyne's lead fluctuated between two and five points the remainder of the set.

Saint Anselm controlled the majority of the second set before the Dolphins rallied late for the win. Following a Saint Anselm block that gave the Hawks a 23-20 lead, the Dolphins scored three straight points and five of the next six to take a 25-24 lead. Saint Anselm stayed alive with a kill, but the Dolphins countered with consecutive kills for the 27-25 win.

Le Moyne closed out the match with a 25-13 win in the third set. After the teams split the first 10 points of the set, the Dolphins scored four straight points to take control. Following a Le Moyne attack error to pull the Hawks within 12-8, Le Moyne scored eight straight points and 11 of the next 12 to extend its lead to 23-9. Saint Anselm tallied four of the next five to get within 24-13 before Le Moyne landed a kill for the final point of the day.

Junior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) registered her team-best 13th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs. Casson now has 303 kills on the season, the 15th-most on the program's single-season chart and the most in the 25-point era (2008-present). Freshman right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) hit .391 en route to landing 12 kills. Sophomore setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) recorded her 10th double-double of the year with 39 assists and 10 digs, while adding a career high-tying four service aces. With her 39 assists today, Corcoran has 980 on the season, the eighth-highest total by a Dolphin in a single season and the most in the 25-point era. Freshman libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the defense with 14 digs, while adding a career-best four service aces. Porr moved into second place on the program's single-season digs chart with 481, eclipsing the previous second-place mark of 479 posted by Amanda McClure '06 in 2005.

Amanda Williams led the Hawks in the loss with nine kills and a .389 hitting percentage. Jewel Hays directed the offense with 21 assists, while CC Chrisom and Sarah Lowery had 12 and 10 digs, respectively.
