Amherst, N.Y. – Annie Boele registered a double-double to lead fourth-seeded American International College to a 3-0 victory over the fifth-seeded Le Moyne College volleyball team in the first round of the NCAA Championships East Regional on Thursday afternoon at Daemen College's Lumsden Gymnasium.

Le Moyne finishes the season with a 22-7 record after appearing in the NCAA Championships for the first time in the program's history. The 22 victories are tied for the second-most in the program's history, while the .759 winning percentage is the program's best ever and the seven defeats are the fewest ever.

The Yellow Jackets opened the match with a 25-23 victory in the first set. They doubled their lead with a 25-12 win in the second set and closed out the match by rallying for a 26-24 victory in the third set.

Senior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz./Kingman) and junior middle blocker Danica Durdines (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos) led the Dolphins with eight kills each, while Casson recorded 10 digs and Durdines posted two blocks and two digs. Casson finishes her career 1197 kills (fifth-most in the program's history), 998 digs (10th-most) and 1354 points (6th-most) in 399 sets (tied for 6th-most) over 106 matches (tied for 8th-most). Junior setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) directed the offense with 22 assists, while sophomore libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the defense with 13 digs. Corcoran finishes the season with 1205 assists, the second-most in a season in the program's history, while Porr extends her single-season record to 616 digs. The team's 28 total kills in the match tied for the fewest all season, while the 43 digs mark the third-fewest (the two fewer were both in wins).

Boele registered seven of her match-best 13 kills in the first set, while hitting at a .545 clip and tallying 11 digs. Diva Rivas, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, recorded nine kills and three digs. Dolores Kopren, a first team all-conference selection, recorded a double-double with 28 assists and 10 digs.

In the opening set, the Dolphins jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Yellow Jackets answered with a 7-2 run for a two-point lead. After American International took a 10-9 lead, the Dolphins tallied seven of the next nine points to take their largest lead of the set and force a timeout by the Yellow Jackets. Following the timeout, AIC rattled off six straight points to force a Le Moyne timeout. After ties at 18, 20, 21, 22 and 23, Boele recorded back-to-back kills to end the set.

After the teams split the first two points of the second set, the Yellow Jackets rattled off nine straight points to take control of the set. Following back-to-back Le Moyne points to get within 16-8, American International tallied a 7-0 run to take a 15-point advantage. Le Moyne got within 24-12 before committing a service error to end the set.

After the Yellow Jackets opened the third set with the first two points, Le Moyne ran off six straight points and 12 of the next 14 points to open up a 12-4 lead. American International responded with five straight points to get within 12-9 and force a Le Moyne timeout. The Dolphins tallied seven of the next 10 points to push its lead to 19-12. After the Dolphins took a 22-16 lead on a kill by Durdines, the Yellow Jackets tallied five of the next six points to get within 23-21. American International committed a service error to get the Dolphins to set point, but the Yellow Jackets followed with five consecutive points, four of which came on Le Moyne errors, to capture the match.
