Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team dropped its final non-conference home match of the season, 9-0, to New York Institute of Technology on Thursday afternoon at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
In doubles action, Matej Selecky and Jorge Gonzales Soler edged junior
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and sophomore
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds), 8-6, at the first spot. At the second position, Rares Ispas and Rafal Charkiewicz also recorded an 8-6 win over sophomore
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and freshman
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa). Tomas Lieb and Alexandre Martinez completed the sweep of doubles with an 8-3 win at the third spot over redshirt senior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) and junior
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa).
In singles competition, Selecky was victorious at the top spot over Gayvert, 6-2, 6-0, while David Jiang won the tightest match of the day, 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 10-6, over Barton at the second position. Lieb recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Doney at the third spot, while Soler defeated Legris at the fourth position, 6-4, 6-0. Ispas recorded a 6-4, 6-1 win at the fifth position over Spoor, while Jamie Salvador registered a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the sixth spot over Underwood.
Le Moyne (6-9) continues non-conference action on Saturday at Hamilton College at 4:00 p.m.
