SECOND-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE TOPS 14TH-RANKED STONEHILL, 10-6, FOR FIFTH WIN OVER RANKED OPPONENT

Easton, Mass. – Four players each scored two goals as the second-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team overcame an early deficit to defeat 14th-ranked Stonehill College, 10-6, on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at W.B. Mason Stadium.

The teams traded goals over the opening 23 minutes of the game. Stonehill opened the scoring 4:13 into the contest as Elizabeth Vetter recorded her ninth goal of the season off a pass from Caitlin Sweeney. Freshman attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) evened the score at one apiece with 21:33 left after taking a pass from senior attacker Maggie Monnat (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker). The length of Stonehill's lead, 4:14, eclipsed the span of Le Moyne's only other deficit this season, a span of 2:55 in the second half in the season-opener against Mercyhurst.

Stonehill regained the lead 58 seconds later on a free-position goal by Vetter. Senior attacker Erica Geremia (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/SUNY Cortland) knotted the score at two with her 18th goal of the year at the 18:08 mark. Geremia gave the Dolphins their first lead by finishing off a pass from Monnat with 11:11 left in the half. Brianna Doherty tied the score for the final time with her third goal of the season with 9:21 left after taking a feed from Liina Jalinskas. Monnat gave the Dolphins the lead for good with 7:13 remaining in the half by converting a free-position shot for her 18th goal of the season.

Fazio pushed the lead to 5-3 with her team-best 22nd goal of the year with 4:41 to go, while sophomore midfielder Abbie McEntee (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) gave the Dolphins a 6-3 lead at halftime by netting her ninth goal of the campaign with 33 seconds left after collecting a pass from sophomore attacker Jacqueline Pardee (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee).

As happened in the first half, the teams alternated goals in the second half. Stonehill got the scoring started in the second half on an unassisted goal by Rebecca Matheson 8:37 into the stanza. Freshman midfielder Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) extended Le Moyne's lead back to three with a free-position goal with 19:21 to play. Shannon Booth trimmed Stonehill's deficit to two for the final time with a free-position goal with 17:22 remaining. Sanna answered back with her eighth goal of the season 65 seconds later. Pardee followed with her fourth tally of the year with 10:38 left off a pass from Monnat. Just 35 seconds later, Sweeney responded with her eighth marker of the season off a feed from Matheson. McEntee completed the game's scoring with 4:26 with her 10th goal of the year after corralling a pass from Sanna.
