WOMEN’S BASKETBALL REGISTERS 64-56 VICTORY AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

Rindge, N.H. – Junior forward Joanna Dobrovosky (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) led four Dolphins in double figures as the Le Moyne College women's basketball team registered a 64-56 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse.

Dobrovosky tallied a team-best 14 points, eight of which she scored in the first half, while adding seven rebounds, three blocks and three assists. Freshman guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) recorded 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Juniors Nicole Riddick (Albany, N.Y./Colonie/UMass Lowell) and Ellie Leszyk (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) each posted 10 points, while Riddick pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four assists.

Mikayla Deguire led the Ravens in the loss with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds, including 13 points and seven rebounds in the second half.

After the teams split the first 12 points of the game over the opening four minutes, the Dolphins tallied seven straight points. Roberts started the streak with a three-pointer and Dobrovosky capped it with a fast-break lay-up off a feed from Roberts.

Franklin Pierce answered with nine straight points to take the lead. Jemma Thacker and Cameryn Wilson hit three-pointers and then Sarah Middleton recorded a conventional three-point play.

Junior forward Courtney Webster (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) evened the score at 15 with a lay-up at the end of the first quarter.

Following two free throws by Dobrovosky to start the scoring in the second quarter, the Ravens rattled off seven straight points for their largest lead of the game, 22-17, with 4:27 left in the half. Dana Campbell put her team in front with a three-pointer and Deguire capped the jaunt with a lay-up.

The Dolphins got within one on two occasions, both on baskets by Riddick, but the Ravens got baskets from Middleton and Deguire to take a 28-23 lead into halftime.

Le Moyne tallied 15 of the first 19 points of the third quarter to take a six-point lead with 5:38 left in the period. Leszyk led the charge with eight points, while Dobrovosky made two lay-ups and Roberts drained a three-pointer.

Franklin Pierce answered back with a 9-2 run to regain the lead. Deguire made a pair of lay-ups around a Wilson lay-up and a Campbell three-pointer.

After the Dolphins regained the lead with just over one minute left in the quarter, Deguire buried a three-pointer as time expired in the period to give the Ravens a 46-44 lead.

The Dolphins scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter to take the lead for good. Riddick made a lay-up for the lead, Roberts followed with two free throws and then drained a three-pointer for a 52-46 advantage with 5:52 to play.

Le Moyne's lead bounced between four and eight points the remainder of the game.

Le Moyne (11-9, 7-7 NE10) returns home to face The College of Saint Rose on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
