Hamilton, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team fell in its first dual match of the season on Wednesday afternoon to Colgate University, 7-0, at the Sanford Field House.
The Raiders picked up the doubles point by taking two of the three doubles matches. At the top spot, Jacob Daugherty and Scott Bickel registered a 6-4 win over sophomore
Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) and senior
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds). Alec Dardis and Jack Ablon tallied a 6-2 win at the second position over freshman
Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and junior
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa). Junior
Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) and senior
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) were victorious at the second spot over Noah Rosenblat and Tyler Krantz.
The Raiders swept the singles competition to complete the victory. Daugherty registered a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Blythe at the top spot, while Bickel posted back-to-back 6-2 wins over Hernandez at the second position. For the second year in a row, Rosenblat defeated Doney at the third position, 6-3, 6-4. In the closest match of the afternoon, Peter Hartman rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Barton at the fourth spot. Dardis claimed an 6-0, 7-6 victory at the fifth position over Erickson, while Krantz turned in a 6-2, 6-0 win over Underwood at the sixth spot.
Le Moyne (0-1) returns to action on Tuesday at Roberts Wesleyan College at 4:00 p.m.
