Leesburg, Fla. – Senior third baseman
Kelly Mascari (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Buffalo) and freshman catcher
Allie Nicolosi (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) homered in each game to lead the Le Moyne College softball team to a pair of wins on Saturday at The Spring Games at the Sleepy Hollow Complex. The Dolphins opened the day with a 3-2 win over Tiffin University and then defeated Nyack College, 6-2.
Tiffin started the scoring with one run on one hit in the first inning. Second baseman Urgo was hit by a pitch to start the game, moved to second on a groundout and came around to score on a two-out single to left by first baseman Michelle Poe.
Nicolosi led off the bottom of the first with her first career home run to knot the score at one.
Mascari gave the Dolphins the lead in the bottom of the fourth with her second home run of the campaign.
Sophomore left fielder
Lauren Zazzaro (Southington, Conn./Southington) pushed the lead to 3-1 in the fifth with her first career home run.
Tiffin cut its deficit back to one in the sixth with one run without a hit. Sevenish reached on an error by the second baseman to start the inning. After stealing second and taking third as left fielder Sierra Besser-Paul reached on an error by the second baseman, Sevenish scored on an error by the second baseman as Besser-Paul stole second.
Freshman
Peyton Bellrose (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) earned her second win of the season after tossing six innings, while yielding two runs (one earned) on four hits. Junior righty
Alexis Eastman (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) picked up her second save after pitching the seventh inning. Reynolds took the loss for Tiffin after giving up three runs over four and one-third innings.
The Dolphins scored the only runs they would need against Nyack via the longball in the first inning. Nicolosi led off the frame with a home run to left field. After senior shortstop
Courtney Case (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) reached on an error by the shortstop, Mascari homered to left field two batters later for a 3-0 lead.
Le Moyne added two runs in the third inning. Case led off with a triple to right field and scored on a groundout by senior center fielder
Sabrina Riley (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park). Mascari then walked and was replaced at first by freshman pinch-runner
Kalie Schumaker (Constantia, N.Y./Paul V. Moore). After taking second on a groundout, Schumaker came around to score on a single to left field by Eastman.
The Dolphins completed their scoring in the fourth with a run on two Nyack errors. Case walked with two outs, stole second, advanced to third as Riley reached on an error and then scored on a throwing error by the catcher as Riley stole second.
Nyack broke through for one run in the sixth inning. Left fielder Angelique Alires reached on an error by the first baseman to start the frame and came around to score on a double by center fielder Alissa Brugnoli.
Catcher Katie Lupinacci led off the seventh with a home run to finish off the game's scoring.
Eastman registered her fifth win of the season after striking out four over seven innings, while allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits. Nicole Wisser took the loss after giving up five runs (four earned) over three innings.
Le Moyne (7-1) is back in action on Sunday for a pair of games against NYIT starting at 8:00 a.m. at the Legends Way Complex in Clermont, Fla.
