MEN’S TENNIS SWEEPS STONEHILL, 9-0, TO STAY ALIVE IN NE10 HUNT

Easton, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team remained alive in the hunt for a Northeast-10 Conference Championships berth with a 9-0 victory over Stonehill College on Wednesday afternoon.

In the doubles competition, freshman Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) and sophomore Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) combined for an 8-5 win at the top spot over Thomas Bellio and Nikolay Lisichenok. Freshman Josh Sagaille (Schenectady, N.Y./Justine Henin Academy (Belgium)) and junior Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) registered an 8-1 win over Manu Ravichandrakumar and Tom Buckley at the second position. Senior James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and sophomore Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) cruised to an 8-0 victory at the third spot over Aaron Diamond and Dimitri Vlassov.

The Dolphins won each of the singles matches in straight sets. At the top position, Blythe defeated Bellio, 6-1, 6-0, while Gayvert was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at the second spot against Lisichenok. Doney recorded back-to-back scores of 6-4 to beat Ravichandrakumar at the third position. Sagaille won the closest match of the day, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2), over Buckley at number four. Barton topped Jeffrey Gagnon at the fifth spot with consecutive scores of 6-1, while senior Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) registered a 7-5, 6-1 victory at the sixth position over Diamond.

Le Moyne (8-8, 3-4 NE10), which is tied in the loss column with Stonehill for the final spot in NE10 Championships with two conference matches left, concludes its non-conference schedule on Thursday against St. Thomas Aquinas at 2:00 p.m. at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
