TOP-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE COMPLETES UNDEFEATED REGULAR SEASON WITH 17-6 WIN OVER FRANKLIN PIERCE

Syracuse, N.Y. – Seniors Alexis Garbarino (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) and Vicki Graveline (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) each had three goals to lead the top-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 17-6 win over Franklin Pierce University in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday at Ted Grant Field.

The Dolphins conclude the regular season with a 16-0 record and a 13-0 mark in conference action and will be the top seed in next week's Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The Dolphins went undefeated in the league for the second time in six years and the 13 wins are the most in the program's seven years in the conference. Franklin Pierce finishes the regular season at 5-8 in the conference and will be the eighth seed in the conference championship. With their respective seeds, the Ravens will return to Syracuse on Wednesday to face the Dolphins in the first round of the NE10 Championship. Opening draw is slated for 2:00 p.m.

Le Moyne jumped out to a 7-0 lead through the first 8:16 of the game. Graveline started the scoring just 37 seconds into the game and Garbarino followed with her 18t goal of the year 45 seconds later off a pass from sophomore attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown). Fazio found the back of the net at the 26:45 mark to force a Franklin Pierce timeout. Following almost two minutes of scoreless play, redshirt junior midfielder Nicole Easterly (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.), senior midfielder Molly McGuane (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and Graveline each scored in a span of 75 seconds for a 6-0 lead. Junior attacker Jacqueline Pardee (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) capped the opening spurt by finishing off a transition pass from graduate student midfielder Maggie Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland).

Caitlin Sweeney, the leading scorer in the NE10, got the Ravens on the scoreboard at the 17:25 mark off a free-position shot for her 59th goal of the year.

The Dolphins answered with the next three goals to get into double digits. Freshman attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) started the run with an unassisted tally with 16:39 to go in the half. Only 62 seconds later, she fed sophomore attacker Maddie Knapp (Watertown, N.Y./South Jefferson) for her ninth goal of the year. Graveline then scored her team-best 42nd goal of the year with 10:11 remaining in the half.

Sweeney recorded another free-position goal with 6:26 left to get her team back within 10-2.

Le Moyne once again countered with three consecutive goals to take a 13-2 lead into halftime. McGuane gave the team its second nine-goal lead of the half with an unassisted marker with 3:51 left. Freshman midfielder Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) found the back of the net for the 26th time with 2:07 left after collecting a feed from Fazio and Easterly closed out the half by finishing off a feed from Knapp with six seconds left.

Franklin Pierce scored the first two goals of the second half to get back within single digits. Anna Wilbert tallied the half's first goal at the 26:23 mark and then Morgan Riley followed three minutes later.

The Dolphins answered with back-to-back goals of their own. Garbarino finished off a feed from Graveline with 22:12 remaining and then Delany had a rebound goal with 20:05 to play.

The teams traded goals over the final 16 minutes of the contest. Briana Sweeney registered her 41st goal of the campaign with 15:22 remaining to make the score 15-5. Brown answered with a free-position goal for her third tally of the year with 11:54 to play. Leana Richards won the ensuing draw and raced up field to score her first goal of the season. Garbarino finished off the game's scoring with 1:40 left off a transition pass from sophomore midfielder Grace Milmoe (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia).

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) registered five saves on her way to her 16th victory of the season. Denise Hunt recorded 13 saves in the loss for the Ravens.

Prior to the opening draw, the senior class of McGuane, Graveline, Easterly, Garbarino and Brown were honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
