Hamilton, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team fell on Wednesday evening to Colgate University, 7-0, at the Sanford Field House.
The Raiders picked up the doubles point by sweeping the three doubles matches. At the top spot, Jacob Daugherty and Jake Hirschberg registered a 6-4 win over freshman
Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) and junior
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds). Noah Rosenblat and Bobby Alter won at the second position, 6-3, over freshman
Josh Sagaille (Schenectady, N.Y./Justine Henin Academy (Belgium)) and junior
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee). Forced to go an extra point, Win Reynolds and Kun Tan edged senior
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and sophomore
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) at the third spot, 7-5.
At first singles, Daugherty rallied to beat Blythe after dropping the first set, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Hirschberg topped Gayvert at the second spot, 6-3, 6-2, while Rosenblat defeated Doney by the same scores, but in reverse order, at the third position. Reynolds registered back-to-back scores of 6-2 to down Sagaille at the fourth position. Alec Dardis claimed an 8-5 pro-set win over Barton at fifth singles, while Tan defeated senior
Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) in a pro-set at the sixth position, 8-4.
Le Moyne (7-6) returns to Northeast-10 Conference competition on Saturday at Bentley University at 12:00 p.m.
