Mansfield, Pa. – Junior guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored 14 points in the second half to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to an 80-66 victory over Mansfield University on Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Decker Gymnasium.

Roberts finished the contest with a game-high 19 points, while dishing out a game-high six assists. Freshman guard Cameron Tooley (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tallied 16 points, including 13 in the middle two quarters, and recorded six steals. Freshman forward Jenna Zimmerman (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) and graduate student forward Corinne Poitevien (Bardonia, N.Y./Paramus Catholic (N.J.)) each registered 10 points and eight rebounds, while Zimmerman added three blocks and three assists.

Erin Gibbons led the Mountaineers in the loss with 13 points and four rebounds. Noelle Cameron contributed 12 points and Paige Whitfield scored 11 points. Kira Merritt came off the bench to record 10 points and four assists.

After the Dolphins jumped out to a 7-2 lead less than 90 seconds into the game, the Mounties responded with a 15-4 run. Whitfield scored five of the points and Cameron added four in the stretch.

Le Moyne answered with seven straight points to take the lead back. Redshirt sophomore guard Liz Millea (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) scored five of the points, including a free to complete a three-point play and take the lead.

Whitfield drilled a three-pointer with 36 seconds left in the quarter to give Mansfield the lead after one quarter of play.

Mansfield opened the second quarter with an 11-4 run to take its largest lead of the game, 31-23, with 7:53 to go in the half. Ellie Thompson started the streak with a conventional three-point play and Gibbons capped it with back-to-back three-pointers to force a Le Moyne timeout.

The Dolphins responded with a 14-5 jaunt to take the lead back. Tooley registered a conventional three-point play and followed with a three-pointer to start the charge, Poitevien made two shots and Roberts and freshman forward Emma Brinker (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) followed with two free throws each for a 37-36 edge with 1:48 to go in the half.

Brinker countered a Thompson lay-up and Whitfield three-pointer with lay-ups on back-to-back possessions to knot the score at 41 apiece at halftime.

After Cameron made a pair of lay-ups around a Tooley three-pointer to start the second half, the Dolphins rattled off 12 of the next 14 points to take control of the game. Roberts and Zimmerman each hit three-pointers in the span, while three other Dolphins each scored two points.

Following two three-pointers by Merritt around five points by Tooley and Zimmerman, Roberts drained a three-pointer and Zimmerman scored three points over two possessions to take a 14-point lead for the first time.

Cameron got the Mountaineers within 67-55 after three quarters with a lay-up in the final seconds of the period.

Roberts opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to give the Dolphins their largest lead of the game, 70-55, with 8:35 to go.
