15TH-RANKED SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE DOWNS BASEBALL LATE, 8-6

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - Catcher Joshua Zbierski had a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the eighth as 15th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University rallied for an 8-6 win over the Le Moyne College baseball team on Sunday morning at The Ripken Experience.

The Dolphins opened the game's scoring in the bottom of the second inning with a run on four hits. Senior center fielder JT Pittman (Ashland, Mass./Ashland/Bridgton Academy) and redshirt junior shortstop Ben Walsh (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) each singled to left field with one out. Following a strikeout and a single to left by sophomore third baseman Nicholas Jacques (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) to load the bases, sophomore left fielder Justin Tuey (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) singled to center to drive in Pittman.

Le Moyne extended its lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third on five hits. Junior catcher Camillo Spinoso (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/George Washington) singled to center with one out and junior designed hitter Nick Place (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) and Pittman followed with singles to load the bases. Walsh then singled to center to drive in Spinoso. Redshirt freshman second baseman Brian O'Mara (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) then drew a walk to force in Place. Jacques followed with a single to right center to drive in Pittman and Walsh and force a pitching change.

Southern New Hampshire started its comeback with a run in the fourth on two hits. Stanton led off with a double to left center, took third on a single by Sullivan and scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Potter.

The Penmen took the lead on five hits in the fifth inning. Pangallo led off with a triple to right center and scored on a single to center by Taveras. Following a walk by Buonopane, Blandini tripled to right center to drive in Taveras and Buonopane and force a pitching change. Following a groundout, Sullivan singled to center to knock in Blandini to tie the score. Two batters later, Hernandez singled to left to plate Sullivan.

The Dolphins used three hits to tie the score at six in the bottom of the sixth. Tuey singled to open the inning and stole second. After two strikeouts and a single by Spinoso, Place doubled to left center to drive in Tuey, but Spinoso was thrown out between third and home to end the inning.

SNHU regained the lead in the eighth on three hits. Potter led off with a single to left, took second on a passed ball, moved to third on a single by Hernandez and scored on a single to left by Zbierski.

The Dolphins loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, but could not push across the tying run.

The Penmen completed the game's scoring with an insurance run in the ninth. Blandini walked to open the frame, took second on a single by Stanton and scored on a Sullivan double to left center.

Freshman Ryan Murphy (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) suffered the loss after yielding three runs (two earned) over five innings out of the bullpen, while striking out four. Spinoso finished the game with three hits, while Jacques, Pittman, Place, Tuey and Walsh each had two hits.
