DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered a 9-0 victory over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Elevate Fitness.
The Dolphins swept the doubles competition with consecutive scores of 8-6. At the top spot, sophomore
Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) and senior
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) defeated Matteo Cannavera and Luke Attride-Stirling. Junior
Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) and senior
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) teamed at the second position to beat Sabin Adrian Saveluc and Connor Dove. Juniors
Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) were victorious for the fifth straight time at the third spot over David Robres de Veciana and Ilya Kalabukhau.
In the singles competition, Blythe claimed the victory at the first position over Cannavera by scores of 6-4 and 6-3. Hernandez won his team-best fourth straight match, 6-1, 6-3, over Saveluc at the second spot. Graells topped Robres de Veciana at the third position, 7-5, 6-3. Barton tallied a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the fourth spot over Kalabukhau. Doney collected an 8-6 win at the fifth spot over Attride-Stirling, while freshman
Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) downed Dove, 8-4, at the sixth position.
Le Moyne (5-4, 2-2 NE10), which posted its first win over the Panthers since April 2010, returns to action on Saturday at Saint Anselm College at 3:30 p.m.
