Tess Andrews (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) drove in the game-winning run in the sixth inning as the Le Moyne College softball team recorded a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Pace University on Friday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action at the Pace Softball Field.
Pace opened the game's scoring with a run on two hits in the bottom of the third inning. Center fielder Larissa Labs led off the frame with a double down the right field line, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a sacrifice fly to right field by second baseman Niyah Brown.
The Setters doubled their lead in the fourth on three hits. First baseman Annie Carberry started the inning with a double to right field and advanced to third on a one-out single to right field. After a line out, Labs singled to the shortstop to knock in Carberry.
Le Moyne evened the score in the top of the fifth with two runs on two hits. After sophomore first baseman
Taylor Artley (York Haven, Pa./Red Land) singled to third base with two outs, sophomore second baseman
Jillian McManus (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) blasted a home run to right center to tie the score.
The Dolphins took the lead in the sixth on a pair of hits. Sophomore third baseman
Peyton Bellrose (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) singled to center with two outs and was replaced at first by sophomore pinch-runner
Kalie Schumaker (Constantia, N.Y./Paul V. Moore). Andrews then doubled to center to drive in Schumaker.
Senior righty
Alexis Eastman (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) earned her ninth victory of the year after striking out seven batters, while yielding two runs on seven hits. Emma Bernet took the loss after giving up three runs on six hits over seven innings, while striking out three.
Le Moyne (16-6, 2-3 NE10, 2-1 SW), which snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Setters, concludes its series with Pace on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 a.m.
