Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) tallied a career-high seven points to lead the fourth-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 16-12 win over 22nd-ranked Grand Valley State University on Tuesday afternoon at William G. Tierney Field at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters.
After Grand Valley State started the game's scoring at the 28:46 on a goal by Meghan Datema, the Dolphins rattled off five straight goals. Freshman attacker

Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) followed at the 25:35 mark with her fourth goal of the season. Junior midfielder
Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) gave the Dolphins a 3-1 lead by converting a free-position shot with 24:47 left in the half. She found the back of the net again 51 seconds later after taking a pass from junior attacker
Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown). McMullen capped the run with her fifth goal of the year with 22:53 left.
The teams traded goals over the remainder of the half. Meggan Loyd made it 5-2 with 19:46 left, but Delany countered with 18:04 left off a feed from Hall. After Olivia Esposito converted a free-position shot with 16:02 remaining, Fazio answered with her third goal of the campaign with 13:41 to go. Delany pushed Le Moyne's lead to 8-3 with 10:41 left by finishing off a feed from Fazio. The Lakers responded with a goal from Abbi O'Neal off a pass from Ashley Bailey with 9:16 left in the half and then Datema scored with 5:01 remaining after taking a feed from O'Neal. Hall answered back 12 seconds later to complete the half's scoring.
Le Moyne scored the first two goals of the second half. Sanna started the scoring at the 29:12 mark after collecting a feed from Delany, who then scored with 26:56 left for an 11-5 lead.
The Lakers countered with their own 2-0 run to get back within four. Bailey netted an unassisted goal with 26:37 left and then tallied again 25 seconds later in an extra-player situation off a pass from O'Neal.
The Dolphins took their largest lead of the game by running off three straight goals. Fazio netted her fourth goal of the year with 22:47 left to start the streak. Just under six minutes later, Hall tallied an unassisted goal. Off the ensuing draw, which was controlled by Delany, Hall scored again.
Grand Valley State again matched Le Moyne's run to get within four again. Bailey ignited the spurt with a free-position goal with 14:48 left. Loyd then scored twice in a span of 20 seconds. The first came at 11:32 off a feed from Erika Neumen, while the second was assisted by Bailey.
The teams alternated goals over the final 8:42 to close out the game's scoring. Delany put the Dolphins in front, 15-10, while Datema made it 15-11 with 6:41 remaining off a pass from Bailey in an extra-player situation. Delany pushed the margin to five again with 4:02 left, while Neumen tallied the final goal in an extra-player situation off a feed from Bailey with 16 seconds to go.

Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) registered eight saves, including four in each half, to earn the victory between the pipes. Brianna DeMilia tallied 14 saves, including eight in the first half, in the loss for the Lakers.
Le Moyne (2-0) is back in action at Tierney Field on Thursday taking on fellow Jesuit institution, 12th-ranked Regis University, at 4:00 p.m.
