Ludlow, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team won its sixth straight match, 9-0, over Assumption College on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ludlow Tennis Club.
The Dolphins opened the match by sweeping the doubles competition for the fifth straight match. At the first position, sophomore
Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) and senior
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) defeated Ryan Foster and Reb Mariano by a score of 8-6. Junior
Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) and senior
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) teamed for an 8-3 win at the second spot over Danny Waung and Max Francis. Juniors
Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) recorded their ninth straight victory with an 8-2 win at the third position over Luke Whitehouse and Jameson Keppeler.
In the singles competition, Blythe recorded the closest win of the day, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5, at the top spot over Foster. Hernandez earned his team-best 13th win of the season, 6-2, 6-3, over Francis at the second position, while Graells defeated Waung at the third spot with back-to-back scores of 6-1 for his team-best sixth NE10 win of the year. Barton also earned his sixth NE10 victory by registering consecutive scores of 6-2 at the fourth position over Mariano. Doney and Underwood registered identical 6-3, 6-1 victories at the fifth and sixth spots over Keppeler and Whitehouse, respectively.
Le Moyne (9-4, 6-2 NE10), which has the most conference victories in the league with one NE10 match remaining, returns home to host non-conference foe NYIT on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. at the DeWitt Elevate Fitness.
