TITLE BOUND: SECOND-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE CRUISES TO 18-1 WIN OVER REGIS IN NCAA SEMIFINALS

Tampa, Fla. – Sophomore midfielder Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) registered a career-high eight points to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a berth in the NCAA National Championship game with an 18-1 win over Regis University in the NCAA semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex.

The Dolphins, who won their program-record 21st game of the year, advance to the national title game for the first time in the program's history and will take on third-ranked Florida Southern College on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. The Mocs won the title in 2016 and fell in the title game in 2017 with both games coming against Adelphi. Sunday's meeting will be the first ever between the Dolphins and Mocs.

Le Moyne opened the game with the first six goals, which were scored in the initial 11 minutes of play. After causing a turnover on a Regis clear attempt and picking up the loose ball, junior attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) got the scoring started 90 seconds into the game after collecting a pass from junior midfielder Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford). Just 47 seconds later, Delany netted her first goal of the afternoon after taking a feed from sophomore attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson), who followed with her first goal of the day 21 seconds later. Fazio pushed the advantage to 4-0 with 25:57 left in the half after receiving a feed from freshman attacker Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill). Junior attacker Madison Pritchard (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C./Canisius) made it 5-0 with 23:14 remaining off a pass from freshman attacker Brittney Pollack (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport). Hall completed the initial outburst with her 49th goal of the year with 19:05 left in the half.

Regis got on the scoreboard just over 14 minutes into the game as Lauren Hurd converted a free-position shot.

As it did to start the game, Le Moyne rattled off six straight goals, this time resulting in a 12-1 halftime lead. Delany started the run by finishing off a pass from Sanna in an extra-player situation with 14:09 to go. McMullen made it 8-1 with 9:27 remaining after collecting a feed from Delany. The duo then traded roles with 8:03 to go. Delany scored again 26 seconds later and another 33 second later, with both feeds coming from Sanna. Fazio completed the half's scoring with 2:39 to play after receiving a pass from redshirt senior midfielder Nicole Easterly (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.).

The Dolphins scored the only six goals of the second half. Delany started the scoring just 52 seconds into the stanza off a feed from Fazio, who then fed Pritchard with 26:20 left for a 14-1 advantage. Pollack tallied her 10th goal of the campaign with 24:48 remaining off a pass from Delany. Sanna pushed the lead to 15 with 20:27 left with her 31st goal of the year. Freshman attacker Emily Altland (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) netted her 17th goal of the season with 16:47 remaining after collecting a feed from Hall. Fazio completed the game's scoring with an extra-player goal off a feed from Pritchard with 13:08 left. With the goal, Fazio increased her point total to 98, the fourth-most in a season in the program's history.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) registered a career high-tying 14 saves, including eight in the first half, to earn her 40th career victory. The Dolphin defense caused 11 of Regis' 18 turnovers, including two each by senior Kelly Gaffney (Florham Park, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) and junior Kasi Cabrey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool). Elle Crawford suffered the loss after allowing 16 goals over 39:50, while making nine first-half saves.
