FOURTH-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE RALLIES FROM EARLY DEFICIT FOR 17-11 WIN OVER 15TH-RANKED PACE IN NE10 SEMIFINALS

Garden City, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) scored twice in each half to lead the fourth-ranked and second-seeded Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 17-11 come-from-behind victory over 15th-ranked and third-seeded Pace University in the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon at Adelphi University's Motamed Field.

The Dolphins improve to 18-1 on the season and advance to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship game for the seventh time in their eight years in the conference and for the fourth consecutive year. The 18 wins are tied for the second-most victories in a season, trailing only last year's 19. The Dolphins will take on top-ranked and top-seeded Adelphi on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Dolphins and Panthers are meeting for the conference title for the fourth straight year and for the seventh time in eight years. The Panthers have claimed five of the previous six meetings, with the Dolphins winning in 2013.

The Setters, who won their first NE10 Championships game on Wednesday, jumped out to a 5-1 lead after just 8:14 of play. Casey Gelderman opened the scoring 2:21 into the game off a pass from Courtney Pabst. After junior midfielder Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) answered back 16 seconds later, Pace scored four straight goals. Emily Ankabrandt started the run 37 seconds later with a free-position goal with 26:46 left in the half. She followed 38 seconds later with her 18th goal of the year after collecting a pass from Abby Haimson, who pushed the lead to 4-1 with 23:55 remaining after taking a feed from Pabst for her 20th tally of the season. Ankabrandt capped the jaunt with 21:46 to go off another pass from Pabst.

Le Moyne answered with three straight goals to get back within one. Sophomore attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) got the run started by converting a free-position shot just 13 seconds after Ankabrandt scored. Freshman attacker Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) followed 31 seconds later with her 42nd goal of the campaign. Delany tallied her first goal of the day with 17:55 left on a free-position shot to make it 5-4.

Following 6:16 of scoreless play, the teams traded goals over the remainder of the half. Gelderman pushed her team's lead back to two with 11:39 remaining after scooping up the loose ball after her initial shot was saved. Delany answered with her 59th goal of the season with 10:48 left to make it a one-goal game again. Angela Kelly extended it back to a two-goal advantage for the Setters with a free-position goal with 9:13 to go. Sanna converted another free-position shot with 7:06 remaining to make it 7-6. Freshman attacker Brittney Pollack (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) evened the score at seven apiece with 3:26 left in the half after receiving a pass from junior attacker Madison Pritchard (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C./Canisius).

Gelderman gave the Setters the lead at halftime with her 68th (and final) goal of the season with 2:04 remaining after taking a pass from Pabst.

The Dolphins had a pair of shots to tie the score in the final 91 seconds of the half, but both were saved.

Le Moyne scored three times in the opening 3:49 of the second half to take the lead for the first time. Delany knotted the score at eight with 27:29 remaining with her 60th goal of the year. The goal also marked the 100th point of her career. Just 35 seconds later, she fed McMullen for her 43rd goal and the team's first lead of the game. Hall extended the margin to two and forced a timeout with her 46th goal of the season only 43 seconds later.

Emma Rafferty got the Setters back within one for the final time with 24:59 left by converting a free-position shot.

The Dolphins used another 3-0 spurt over 3:13 to extend their lead to 13-9. Delany began the run at the 24:34 mark with her 61st goal of the season, which is tied for the fifth-most in a season in the program's history. Junior attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) extended the lead to three for the first time by finishing off a pass from Hall with 22:13 left. Pollack then scored her ninth goal of the campaign off a pass from classmate Emily Altland (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) with 21:21 to play.

Haimson snapped the run with her 21st goal of the year with 19:24 left.

Le Moyne posted its third 3-0 spurt of the half to take its largest lead of the game. Altland netted her 16th goal of the season with 16:53 remaining. Junior defender Kasi Cabrey (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) tallied her first goal in 731 days with 14:54 left after collecting a pass from Fazio, who then put the Dolphins up 16-10 with 11:03 to play by converting a free-position shot. With the goal, Fazio became just the third player in the program's history (joining Erica Geremia and Maggie Monnat both in 2015 and 2016) to register at least 80 points in multiple seasons (82 in 2016, 80 this season).

Stephanie Chadnick capped Pace's scoring by scoring an extra-player goal with 6:08 left after taking a feed from Gelderman.

Sanna completed the game's scoring with 4:54 left with her 26th goal of the year off a pass from Hall.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) recorded a career-high 14 saves, including eight in the first half, to earn her 37th career victory. The 14 saves are the most by a Dolphin since Molly Marbut '15 on April 16, 2014 at Adelphi. Jillian Oross made nine saves, including seven in the first half, in the loss.
