VOLLEYBALL SWEPT AT AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

Springfield, Mass. – Andrea Serra landed 16 kills to lead American International College to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team on Tuesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Butova Gymnasium.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to leads of 9-1 and 16-5 before holding on for a 25-19 victory in the first set. After AIC used a 3-0 spurt in the second set to take a 16-12 lead, the Dolphins scored four straight points to tie the score at 16 apiece. The Yellow Jackets answered with six of the next seven points to regain control of the set before putting it away, 25-22. Following a 5-1 run by the Dolphins to take a 14-10 lead in the third set, American International scored seven of the next eight points for a 17-15 lead. Following ties at 18, 19, 20 and 21, the Yellow Jackets scored four of the last six points to close out the match with a 25-23 win.

Freshman outside hitter Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) led the Dolphins offensively with seven kills. Junior setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) directed the offense with 16 assists to go along with seven digs and four kills. Sophomore libero Emily Mosack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) was the team's defensive leader with 12 digs.

Serra hit .297 en route to her 16 kills, while adding seven digs and two service aces. Sarah Lowery tallied 11 kills to go along with six digs and two block assists. Naomi Eckert led the offense with 36 assists and added six digs. Amanda Rodriguez paced the defense with 15 digs.

Le Moyne (10-10, 3-5 NE10) returns to action on Friday at Southern New Hampshire University at 7:00 p.m.
