TOP-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE RECORDS FIFTH WIN OVER RANKED OPPONENT, 15-7, AT 12TH-RANKED PACE

Pleasantville, N.Y. – Junior attacker/midfielder Julia Sardella (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Siena) recorded five points to lead the top-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 15-7 win over 12th-ranked Pace University on Sunday afternoon at Pace Stadium.

The Dolphins scored the first three goals of the game over the initial 7:45 of the contest. Sardella started the scoring with her 12th tally of the season just 63 seconds into the game off a pass from junior attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson). Sophomore attacker Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) finished off a pass from Sardella with 25:48 remaining in the half. Senior midfielder Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) capped the opening streak by converting a free-position shot with 22:15 left.

Pace countered with the next two goals to get within one. Emma Rafferty got the Setters on the scoreboard with 15:55 to go off a pass from Carlyn Mucci. Just over two minutes later, Courtney Sulfaro scored off a feed from Mary Kate Lonegan.

Le Moyne tallied the final five goals of the half. Senior attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) started the spurt with her 19th goal of the season after taking a pass from Hall in an extra-player situation with 11:39 left in the half. With the goal, Fazio passed Amanda Keegan '07 for second on the program's career goals scored list with her 176t career goal. Hall made the score 5-2 with 9:23 remaining by converting a free-position shot. Sardella followed with her second goal of the day with 4:37 left after collecting a pass from Fazio. McMullen netted her second of the afternoon with 2:15 to go off a feed from Hall. Sardella completed the half's scoring with 1:18 remaining off a pass from sophomore attacker Brittney Pollack (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport).

Pace snapped the run by scoring the first goal of the second half as Mucci recorded an unassisted goal with 27:38 remaining.

Le Moyne used another five-goal run to take its first double-digit lead of the game. Sanna ignited the run with an unassisted goal with 26:00 left. Freshman attacker Molly Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) got the Dolphins into twin figures with her first career goal with 21:36 remaining off a feed from Pollack. McMullen completed her hat trick with 17:26 to play after taking a pass from freshman Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee). Fazio tallied her 20th goal of the season with 12:38 to play after receiving a feed from junior midfielder Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee), who followed with a free-position goal 38 seconds later for a 10-goal lead.

The teams then traded goals over a five-minute span. Isabella Piccola scored for the Setters with 9:38 left, while Delany countered 58 seconds later off a pass from Sardella. Kayla Conway got Pace within nine with 6:16 left off a free-position shot, while Sanna gave the Dolphins their last double-digit lead with 5:20 remaining off a pass from McMullen. Emma Norton continued the see-saw with an unassisted goal with 4:27 to go.

Johnna Leone completed the game's scoring with 2:10 remaining.

Junior goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) registered 13 saves (against five goals) over 54:40 between the pipes to earn her 48th career victory, which ties Kelly Fucillo '12 for the second-most in the program's history. Sienna Masullo made seven saves in the loss for the Setters.

Le Moyne (7-0, 3-0 NE10) visits 17th-ranked University of New Haven on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
