Syracuse, N.Y. – Catcher Jared Burcin had three hits and scored three runs to lead Bloomsburg University to a 12-4 win over the Le Moyne College baseball team in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Dick Rockwell Field.
The Huskies opened the game's scoring with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. After a two-out single to center by Burcin, second baseman Kyle OFier homered to right field.
Le Moyne answered with two runs of its own in the bottom of the frame. Following a two-out single up the middle by redshirt senior first baseman

Bloomsburg, which was ranked third in the initial NCAA Atlantic Region rankings last Wednesday, took the lead for good with eight runs in the sixth inning. Burcin and OFier opened the frame with walks. Following a pair of outs and a walk by third baseman Chad Cooperman to load the bases, left fielder Andrew Holmes walked to force in Burcin. Shortstop Nate Krizan then walked to force home OFier. Following a pitching change, first baseman Ryan Shiffer doubled down the right field line to drive in Cooperman, Holmes and Krizan. Designated hitter Ben Newbert followed with a double down the left field line to plate Shiffer, while then scoring on a single up the middle by Burcin. After a single through the left side by OFier, center fielder Carter Chasanov singled up the middle to knock in Burcin with the final run of the inning.
The Dolphins plated one run in each of the seventh and eighth innings. Place led off the seventh with a walk and freshman catcher
Ty Syta (Hamburg, N.Y./St. Francis) followed with a single through the right side. Following a groundout, Place scored on a sacrifice fly to right by sophomore center fielder

Richie Kuhar (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) drew a walk to open the inning, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a double down the left field line by senior third baseman

The Huskies ended the game's scoring with a pair of runs in the ninth. After Chasanov singled down the third baseline with one out and advanced to second on a throwing error by the pitcher, right fielder Cole Swiger homered to left field.
Freshman
Connor Bennett (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) suffered the loss after yielding five runs in two-thirds of an inning of work. Jared Marshman improved to 4-0 for the Huskies after striking out seven over six-plus innings, while allowing three runs and four hits.
Le Moyne (21-21) opens its final series of the season on Thursday with a doubleheader against division-leading Adelphi University at 1:00 p.m.
