MEN’S TENNIS SUFFERS FIRST NE10 LOSS, 4-3, AT BENTLEY

Waltham, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team fell to Bentley University, 4-3, in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Brandeis University.

Bentley opened the afternoon by claiming the point in the doubles competition by winning at the second and third spots. Le Moyne took the first doubles match with the team of sophomore Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) beating Connor Aulson and Dylan Granat, 6-4. The Falcons took the second spot as Michael Fuca and Brett Gilman recorded a 7-5 victory over seniors Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa). Kendall Au and Daniel Weitz were 6-2 winners at the third position over senior Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) and freshman Gerardo Wibmer (Maldonado, Uruguay/Apostille School).

The Falcons clinched the match by splitting the singles competition as the Dolphins took the odd-numbered spots and Bentley claimed the even-numbered positions. At the second spot, Blythe fell short in his match to Weitz, 6-4, 6-0. Aulson defeated graduate student Sven Gopfrich (Erlangen, Germany/Emmy-Noether-Gymnasium Erlangen/Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg) at the fourth position, 6-0, 6-4. Mauricio Fadul Rubod was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at the sixth spot over Wibmer.

For the Dolphins, Jarry registered back-to-back 6-2 wins over Granat at the first position for his seventh consecutive victory. Hernandez defeated Fuca, 7-6, 6-4, at the third spot for his fourth straight win. Graells earned his fourth consecutive victory with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win over Gilman at the fifth position.

Le Moyne (8-5, 3-1 NE10) returns to the courts on Tuesday against Assumption College at Elevate Fitness at 12:30 p.m. in DeWitt N.Y.
