Hershey, Pa. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 7-0 victory over Bloomsburg University in non-conference action on Sunday at the Hershey Racquet Club.
The Dolphins took a 1-0 lead in the match by sweeping each of the matches in the doubles competition by a score of 6-3. Junior
Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and senior
Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) defeated Nagid Walle and Robin Luetzig at the first position. Juniors
Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and
James Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) topped Scott Redmond and Oliver Wiesemann at the second spot. Freshman
Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School) and sophomore
Gerardo Wibmer (Maldonado, Uruguay/Apostille School) downed Jorge Barra and Guille Carranza at the third position.
The Dolphins swept each of the singles matches in straight sets. At the first position, Jarry was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Walle.
Jared Howard improved to 2-0 on the season by defeating Luetzig at the second spot, 6-3, 6-1. Miller tallied his second win, 6-2, 6-0, at the third position over Redmond.
James Howard topped Wiesemann with back-to-back scores of 6-3 at the fourth spot to move to 2-0 on the year. Wibmer was the fourth Dolphin to earn his second victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the fifth position over Barra. Junior
Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) downed Chris Kocon, 6-1, 6-2, at the sixth spot in his season debut.
Le Moyne (2-0) opens its home schedule on Sunday against The University of Western Ontario at 7:00 p.m. at Elevate Fitness in DeWitt.
