Hockessin, Del. – Sophomore first baseman
Andrew Roden (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) blasted a three-run home run to lead the Le Moyne College baseball team to a 6-3 win over Goldey-Beacom College in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Lightning won the nightcap, 6-0.
The Dolphins opened the scoring in the first game with a run in the third inning. Freshman second baseman
Zach Brush (New York Mills, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) led off with a single through the right side, but was replaced at first by senior center fielder
Justin Tuey (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston), who reached on a fielder's choice. After stealing second and taking third on a wild pitch, Tuey scored on a balk.
Goldey-Beacom tied the score at one in the bottom of the fourth. Designated hitter Marshall Awtry led off with a double to left center and came around to score on a single by shortstop Justin Hill.
Le Moyne responded with five runs on five hits and a Goldey-Beacom error. Tuey reached on a throwing error by the shortstop with one out and junior left fielder
Jeff Wilson (Rochester, N.Y./Greece-Odyssey) and sophomore shortstop
Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) followed with singles to load the bases. Tuey then raced home on a wild pitch for a 2-1 lead. Roden then launched a three-run homer to right center. After a pitching change, junior designated hitter
Nick Hansen (Troy, N.Y./La Salle Institute/Hudson Valley C.C.) doubled down the left field line. Following an out, senior third baseman
Nicholas Jacques (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) doubled down the left field line to dive in Hansen.
The Lightning scored once in the bottom of the sixth. Second baseman Mason Maxwell led off with a double to right field, moved to third on a fly out and scored on a throwing error by the shortstop.
Goldey-Beacom brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but the final batter was retired. Hill led off with a double to right center and moved to third on a groundout. After a strikeout, first baseman Zach Roseman singled through the right side to drive in Hill. Maxwell followed with a single to put runners on the corners and force a pitching change, but the next hitter struck out to end the game.

Jed Boyle (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran) earned his first career victory after tossing three innings and yielding just one run and two hits. Sophomore
Jacob Maser (Chittenango, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) collected his second save of the season by striking out the only batter he faced to end the game. Nevins, Roden and Hansen each has two hits and a run scored. Luke Taylor took the loss after giving up five runs (four earned) over four and one-third innings.
