Albany, N.Y. – Julia Cavalcanti led four players with double-figure kills to lead The College of Saint Rose to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in the season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
Saint Rose jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set. The Dolphins pulled within five on a pair of occasions, including at 17-12, but the Golden Knights closed out the set with eight of the last 12 points for a 25-16 win.
After the teams split the first four points of the second set, the Dolphins tallied six of the next seven points for an 8-3 lead. Following eight points from each team, the Golden Knights scored three in a row to get within 16-14. After the Dolphins scored back-to-back points, Saint Rose rattled 10 of the next 14 points to take a 24-22 lead. Le Moyne rallied with the final four points for a 26-24 win to even the match at one set apiece.
The teams went back and forth over the opening 30 points of the third set, exchanging the lead six times. Following ties at 16 and 19, the Golden Knights scored back-to-back points. The Dolphins responded with five straight points to get within set point. Saint Rose stayed alive with three straight points, but the Dolphins tallied two consecutive points for another 26-24 win for a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Golden Knights opened the fourth set with the first three points and 13 of the first 18. The teams then traded points over the next 21 as the Golden Knights pulled within set point at 24-15. The Dolphins stayed alive with three straight points before committing an attack error to give the Golden Knights a 25-18 win to even the match at two sets apiece.
Saint Rose jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the decisive fifth set. After the Dolphins got within 7-6, the Golden Knights countered with eight of the last 11 points to close out the match with a 15-9 win.

Lexi Petraitis (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) registered a career-high 16 kills on a .367 hitting percentage in her final collegiate match, while adding four blocks, three service aces and three digs. Junior outside hitter
Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) landed 13 kills, while freshman outside hitter
Emily LaRuffa (Rock Hill, N.Y./Monticello) posted 10 kills on a career-best .381 hitting percentage to go with a career high-tying seven digs. Graduate student setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) facilitated the offense with a season-high 45 assists to go with seven digs and three kills. Freshman defensive specialist
Ella Katz (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) tallied a career-best 12 digs to lead the Dolphins defensively, while adding two service aces and two assists.
Cavalcanti hit .667 en route to 16 kills, while adding five service aces and five blocks. Cassidy Smith landed 13 kills, while Juliana Venduro and Karleigh Fripp each tallied 11 kills. Emma Strefling registered a double-double with 28 assists and 13 digs. Valeria Jorge contributed 12 assists, four kills and three blocks. Gabriela Boyrie led the Golden Knights defensively with 14 digs to go with eight assists.
