Paxton, Mass. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis remained unbeaten with a 4-0 victory over Assumption University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at the Paxton Tennis Club.
The Dolphins started the day by claiming the point in the doubles competition. At the second position, senior
Marta Nunez (Rye, N.Y./Antonio Lopez (Spain)) and freshman
Fiona Pepper (Challapampa, Peru/Colegio Anglo Americano Prescott) registered a 6-2 win over Caitlin Sze and Aimee Figgins. Junior
Birdem Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/TED Ankara College Foundation HS) and sophomore
Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Alemán Humboldt Guayaquil) were also 6-2 winners at the first spot over Julia Chappell and Cara McCormack.
Le Moyne was victorious in each of the first three matches in the singles competition to finish to clinch the match. At the sixth spot, senior
Rebecca Peters (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn/Cayuga C.C.) won by default. Lilliegren registered back-to-back scores of 6-1 at the fourth spot to defeat Figgins. Pepper clinched the match for the Dolphins with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over McCormack at the third position.
Le Moyne (3-0, 3-0 NE10) is back on the courts against the University of New Haven on Sunday.
