Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team earned its fourth consecutive berth in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinals with a 4-0 victory in the quarterfinals over fifth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday afternoon Nottingham High School.
With the victory, the Dolphins (8-2) advance to the NE10 semifinals for the fourth straight year (and fourth time in the program's history) and will face top-seeded Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H. on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
The Dolphins picked up the point in the doubles competition with wins at the second and third spots. Senior
Marta Nunez (Rye, N.Y./Antonio Lopez (Spain)) and freshman
Fiona Pepper (Challapampa, Peru/Colegio Anglo Americano Prescott) improved to 5-3 on the year with a 6-2 victory at the second position over Isabella Andrade and Elizabeth Dwyer. At the third spot, seniors
Rebecca Peters (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn/Cayuga C.C.) and
Camila Humala (Lima, Peru/Antonio Raimondi) registered a 6-3 win over Mina Houge and Madison Blazejowski.
In singles action, Pepper improved to a team-best 7-1 on the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the third spot over Houge. Peters was victorious at the fifth position over Dwyer, 6-1, 6-4. Humala stayed unbeaten on the year with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Blazejowski at the sixth spot.
