Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) became the program's all-time wins leader as the Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered a 7-0 win over Bentley University on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play at Nottingham High School.
The Dolphins took a 1-0 lead in the match by sweeping the doubles competition. At the first position, Blythe and senior
Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) blanked Daniel Weitz and Connor Aulson, 6-0. Sophomores
Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) and
Felipe Cruz (San Jose, Costa Rica/Blue Valley School/Saint Louis) clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Gabe Horowitz and Sergio Blanco at the third spot. Senior brothers
Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and
James Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) were also 6-1 winners at the second position over Max Bonte and Mauricio Fadul.
In the singles competition, Piekarek gave the Dolphins a 2-0 lead in the match by defeating Horowitz at the fifth spot, 6-0, 6-2. Cruz followed with back-to-back scores of 6-1 to down Blanco at the sixth position.
Jared Howard clinched the match for the Dolphins with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the first spot over Weitz. Jarry posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Aulson at the second spot, while
James Howard was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at the fourth position over Fadul. Blythe closed out the match by defeating Bonte at the third spot, 6-3, 6-4. The win is the 43rd singles win of Blythe's career, which gives him the most in the program's history.
Le Moyne (3-0, 3-0 NE10) returns to action on Thursday at Stonehill College at 2:00 p.m.
