THIRD-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE USES 13-GOAL RUN TO DOWN SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE, 18-6

New Haven, Conn. – Senior midfielder Sydney Meagher (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) scored four goals to lead the third-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to an 18-6 victory over Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Jess Dow Field.

The Owls netted the first three goals of the contest over the initial 3:50. Bayleigh Takacs started the scoring at the 28:27 mark off a pass from Hailey Gordon. Just 56 seconds later, Karlie Rowe finished off a feed from Takacs for her third tally of the season. Gordon reversed roles with Takacs from the first goal at the 26:10 mark for the three-goal advantage.

Le Moyne broke through at the 23:32 mark as Meagher netted her eighth goal of the season after taking a pass from senior attacker Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill). Junior attacker Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) followed 45 seconds later with her 11th goal of the season off a feed from sophomore attacker Gemma Addonizio (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius).

Southern Connecticut State regained a two-goal lead with 21:27 remaining on Brianna Shaw's first goal of the season.

The Dolphins answered with the final 10 goals of the half over the last 19:15. Addonizio started the streak off a dish from junior midfielder Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee). Graduate student attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) registered her first goal of the game with 17:28 left off a free-position shot to knot the score at four apiece. Meneilly put the Dolphins in front with 16:21 left with an extra-player goal after collecting a pass from Addonizio. Meagher tallied her ninth goal of the campaign at the 14:39 after receiving another pass from McMullen. Hall recorded assists on the next two goals as she fed Addonizio at 12:05 and Meagher at 11:32. Hall followed with her ninth goal of the year at the 10:36 off a dish from Addonizio. McMullen put the Dolphins into double figures with 7:08 left in the half after receiving a pass from Meagher, who then scored 52 seconds later on a free-position shot. Freshman midfielder Reilly Geer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) completed the scoring in the half by finishing off a feed from senior midfielder Lauren Ferris (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) with 1:11 to go.

Le Moyne extended its streak to 13 consecutive goals with the first three of the second half. Hall started it just 39 seconds into the half off a pass from Addonizio. Meneilly followed at the 25:29 mark after receiving the ball from McMullen. Sophomore attacker Payton Bernardoni (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) netted her sixth goal of the season on a free-position shot with 23:01 left.

Takacs snapped the scoring drought of 39:15 for the Owls by scoring off a pass from Steph Seymour with 16:55 remaining.

The Dolphins scored the next three goals for an 18-5 advantage. McMullen, the NE10 and IWLCA Player of the Week each of the last two weeks, started the spurt at the 14:44 mark off a feed from senior attacker Brynne Lafave (Philadelphia, N.Y./Indian River). Just 65 seconds later, sophomore Zoe Mahon (Endicott, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) tallied her first career goal after collecting a pass in transition from Nojaim, who then completed Le Moyne's scoring with 4:31 left with her 11th goal of the year.

Seymour delivered the final score with her third goal of the season with 1:29 left off a pass from Gordon.

Sophomore goalkeeper Paige Crandall (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied four saves over 45:16 to earn her sixth win of the year between the pipes. Laura Morton made 11 saves in the loss for the Owls.

Le Moyne (6-0, 6-0 NE10) returns home to face the University of New Haven on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
