Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team earned its third win of the season over American International College, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Nottingham High School.
The Dolphins opened the match by sweeping the doubles competition for a 1-0 lead. At the first position, senior
Marta Nunez (Rye, N.Y./Antonio Lopez (Spain)) and freshman
Fiona Pepper (Challapampa, Peru/Colegio Anglo Americano Prescott) recorded a 6-1 win over Meritxell Jimeno-Vicente and Jordyn Isaac. Seniors
Camila Humala (Lima, Peru/Antonio Raimondi) and
Rebecca Peters (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn/Cayuga C.C.) were also 6-1 winners at the second spot over Sophie Roberge and Melissa Feilen.
Le Moyne won all eight sets in the singles competition. Sophomore
Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Alemán Humboldt Guayaquil) blanked Feilen at the fourth position, 6-0, 6-0. Peters collected her second win of the year, 6-0, 6-1, at the third spot over Isaac. Humala registered her 36th career victory (fifth-most in the program's history), 6-4, 6-2, over Roberge at the second position. Nunez tied
Rithika Vajjiravelu for the most wins in the program's history with her 53rd by downing Jimeno-Vicente at the top spot, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.
Le Moyne (6-1, 6-1 NE10), which honored the senior class of Humala, Nunez and Peters prior to the match for their contributions to the program, concludes the road portion of its schedule on Sunday at the University of New Haven at 12:00 p.m.
