Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team took on Saint Michael's College tonight at Le Moyne College's Ted Grant Court and came away with a 3-1 win.
The Purple Knights took the first set, 25-20, to start out the night, but the Dolphins came back strong and took home the win, winning the following three sets. Le Moyne took back the match during the second set, 25-9, then kept the run going in the third, 25-23, and finished the night strong with a 25-13 score in the fourth.
Senior outside hitter
Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) led the attack with 13 kills, two assists, and two blocks. Redshirt sophomore outside hitter
Madison Dembroski (Plattekill, N.Y./Wallkill) recorded a career-high 11 kills and eight digs, senior outside hitter
Megan Fay (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall) had eight and freshman middle blocker
Kayla Anstett (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) had seven kills and five blocks. Freshman middle blocker
Nil Ezgi Tasdelen (Izmir, Turkey/Ugur Okullari) registered her season high of seven kills and four blocks during her first home appearance. Guiding the team with assists were freshman setter
Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y./Frontier) with 29 assists and eight digs and senior setter
Margaret King (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield), who registered 14 assists.
For the defense, redshirt sophomore
Isabella Leslie (IC Catholic Prep/Elmhurst, Ill.) had 15 digs and four assists. Sophomore outside hitter
Rose Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) registered five blocks and sophomore defensive specialist
Ella Katz (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) had eight digs.
For the Purple Knights, Dana Welch led with 11 kills and three blocks followed by Beth Syverson with 10 kills and seven blocks and Ella Patterson with nine kills and two assists. Alexandra Baez Rentas guided the team with 34 assists and seven digs. Aaliyah Huihui-Martinez recorded 11 digs and Maddie Van Winkle registered nine.
The Le Moyne Dolphins (6-10, 2-3 NE10) will play their next match against Saint Anselm College at Ted Grant Court on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
