MEN’S TENNIS WINS HOME OPENER, 7-0, OVER UNIVERSITY OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team improved to 6-0 this semester with a 7-0 victory over the University of the District of Columbia on Friday evening at Elevate Fitness.

For the second straight match, the Dolphins swept the doubles competition. At the first position, fifth year Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School) registered a 6-2 victory over Louis Mangeon and Juan Estevez Hernandez. Graduate student Manuel Righi (Bologna, Italy/IPC Manfredi - ITC Tanari/Concordia (N.Y.)/Universita di Bologna) and freshman Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) were also 6-2 winners at the second spot over Mauricio Corty and Maksim Bahdanovich. Fifth years Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and James Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) defeated Fredis Ayala and Jake Bedforth at the third position, 6-1.
 
The Dolphins claimed each of the points in the singles competition for the third straight match. Jarry moved his dual match record to 5-1 by defeating Mangeon at the first position, 6-3, 6-2. Righi collected his fifth straight win as a Dolphin, 6-0, 6-4, over Corty at the second spot. Jared Howard won his third consecutive match, 6-1, 6-2, over Hernandez at the third position. Hatton remained unbeaten as a Dolphin with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the fourth spot over Bahdanovich. Junior Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) earned the point at the fifth spot after Ayala retired with the match 6-0, 4-0. Freshman Xavier Branagan (Wollstonecraft, Australia/St. Aloysius' College) completed the sweep by topping Bedforth at the sixth position with back-to-back scores of 6-1.

Le Moyne (7-1) is back in action on Saturday, March 5 at Hobart at 9:00 a.m.
