SIXTH-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE EARNS FIRST NE10 WIN, 23-9, AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

Rindge, N.H. – Graduate students Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and Sydney Meagher (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) recorded six points each to lead the sixth-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 23-9 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday at Sodexo Field.

"Today was a complete team win for the Phins!," said head coach Liz Beville. "Our defensive unit really locked it down in the second half while our offensive players had their best game of the year so far!"

The Dolphins opened the game's scoring with the first two goals over the initial three minutes. Senior midfielder Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) started the scoring at the 13:18 mark by converting a free-position shot. McMullen followed 56 seconds later with her 13th goal of the year after taking a pass from sophomore attacker Sarah Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus).

Franklin Pierce took advantage of a card on the Dolphins score their first goal as Megyn Ayotte converted a free-position shot in an extra-player situation with 11:01 left in the opening quarter.

The teams then alternated goals the remainder of the period. Redshirt junior midfielder Katelyn Karleski (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) scored her third of the year with 8:58 left, but Morgan Baxendale answered back 18 seconds later by knocking a loose ball into the net. Senior attacker Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) put the Dolphins back up by two with 7:50 left with her 100th career goal after taking a pass from Meagher. Savannah Ernst countered with 6:39 left with a free-position tally. Meagher pushed the margin back to two with her 10th goal of the season at the 4:44 mark for her 100th career point. Ayotte netted her eighth goal of the year with 2:01 left to get the Ravens within one for the final time.

The Dolphins, specifically McMullen, closed out the quarter with the final two goals. Her second of the game came with 1:17 and then she followed with her third with 20 seconds to go. With her third goal of the game, she moved past Amanda Keegan '07 for third place on the program's career points list with her 243rd.

The Dolphins opened the scoring in the second quarter just 50 seconds in to take their first four-goal lead of the game as Meagher finished off a pass from McMullen. With the assist, McMullen tied Brenna Bauer '13 for seventh on the career assist list with 75.

Ernst scored the next two goals to get the Ravens back within two for the final time. She netted her 14th goal of the season with 12:55 left off a pass from Baxendale and then converted a free-position shot with 10:48 remaining to force a Le Moyne timeout.

Le Moyne rattled off the next four goals. Nojaim started the run at the 9:14 mark with her eighth goal of the season. Junior defender Savannah Fish (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied her first career goal with 8:06 remaining after taking a pass in front of the crease from junior attacker Gemma Addonizio (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), who then fed McMullen with 6:43 left for an 11-6 lead. Nojaim capped the streak with an unassisted goal with 2:59 to go.

Addonizio recorded her first goal of the game with 1:32 left off a dish from Meagher, who then found the back of the net on a free-position shot with 24 seconds remaining.
