41ST-RANKED MEN’S TENNIS EXTENDS WIN STREAK TO 16 WITH 6-1 VICTORY OVER 53RD-RANKED ST. THOMAS AQUINAS

Sparkill, N.Y. – The 41st-ranked Le Moyne College men's tennis team extended its win streak to 16 with a 6-1 victory over 53rd-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas College on Sunday at the Riley Family Tennis Center.

The Dolphins claimed the point in the doubles competition with wins at the top two positions. At the top spot, fifth year Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School) earned their 19th win of the year, 7-5, over Ludovico Truffelli and Eduard Simo. Graduate student Manuel Righi (Bologna, Italy/IPC Manfredi - ITC Tanari/Concordia (N.Y.)/Universita di Bologna) and freshman Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) won their 13th consecutive match, 6-2, at the second position over Ivan Laiz and Julius Upel. Maximilian Kendler and Odysseas Papaioannou prevented the sweep with a 7-5 win at the third spot over fifth years Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and James Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College).

In the singles competition, Jarry rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win at the first position over Kendler for his 15th win of the campaign. Righi improved to 13-0 as a Dolphin with a 6-1, 7-5 victory at the second spot over Truffelli. Junior Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) won his 12th consecutive match, 6-0, 6-2, over Papaioannou at the fourth position. Miller collected his 12th win of the year by downing Simo at the fifth spot, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5. James Howard ran his win streak to six with a 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 victory over Laiz at the sixth position. Lennart Lehmann tallied back-to-back scores of 6-3 to defeat Hatton at the third spot.
 
Le Moyne (16-1) closes out its non-conference schedule on Saturday against RIT at 12:00 p.m. at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
