4/14/2022 1:59:00 PM

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College softball team is set to host a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader on their home field, within the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex on the campus of Le Moyne College on Friday afternoon.

The Dolphins played two home conference doubleheaders at Carrier Park in DeWitt at the beginning of the month, but on Friday the 'Phins will complete on The Heights in the softball complex for the first time this season.

Le Moyne, who has claimed conference victories over Stonehill, New Haven and Southern Connecticut State so far this season, but is most recently coming off two losses during a doubleheader at the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday, will play two seven-inning games against the Greyhounds of Assumption University on Friday afternoon, with game one's first pitch scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The Dolphins will play two more conference battles within the softball complex on Saturday against American International College. First pitch for game one of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yellow Jackets is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.

Redshirt-sophomore right-hander Laura Bennett (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post), who will most likely be in the circle for game one of Friday's doubleheader, has earned seven pitching decision victories so far this season, and is second in the NE10 with 114 strikeouts in 91.0 innings pitched. Bennett is competitive in the circle and has excellent command of the zone. She has only allowed 16 walks in 20 appearances.

Senior catcher Cassidy Barrett (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) has provided a team-high 31 hits so far this season. Through 28 games Barrett has put together a .356 batting average with a .400 on base percentage. She has driven in 12 runs and drawn seven walks.

Isabelle Boudreau (Memramcook, New Brunswick/Mathieu-Martin/Pace), who plays center field and bats at the top of the lineup for the 'Phins, has scored a team-high 19 runs so far this season. Boudreau is top-5 in the NE10 with nine stolen bases this year. She is a left-handed hitter that boasts a ton of speed and is an excellent bunter.

Sophomore Brooke Nicolaos (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse), who most often hits behind Boudreau in the two-hole, has scored 14 runs, she has recorded eight RBI, she holds a .378 on base percentage, she has swiped four bases, and has only committed two errors in 26 starts at second base.

First year utility player Alyssa Dybacz (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Charles W. Baker), who has been hitting cleanup lately for Le Moyne, is slugging .519 with 16 RBI, five doubles and two homeruns so far this season.

Mckenzie Bergdoll (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) and Frankie Larobardiere (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Onondaga C.C.) have both provided big hits to the Le Moyne cause. Bergdoll has contributed eight RBI, while Larobardiere has 10 RBI so far this season.

The Greyhounds have earned conference victories over Southern Connecticut State, New Haven, American International, Adelphi, and are most recently coming off a split at Stonehill on Tuesday.

Sophomore Corin Mahan, who primarily plays first base for Assumption, is hitting a team-high .348 with 24 RBI, eight doubles, two homeruns, and a .506 slugging percentage.

Junior center fielder Jordan Dwyer has a .365 on base percentage with five stolen bases so far this season, while first year infielder Mollie Verreault is slugging .573 with five homeruns.

Senior catcher Allison Ainley has drawn a team-high 14 walks in 24 games so far this year with a team-leading .392 on base percentage.

American International College, Le Moyne's opponent for Saturday's doubleheader, has just one conference win this year. Coincidentally, the Yellow Jackets' sole NE10 victory came during a doubleheader split against Assumption on April 2.

AIC is most recently coming off two losses during a doubleheader at Bentley on Tuesday.

Destiny McGrath has a team-best .281 batting average with two homeruns and six RBI. Kodi Gora has seven doubles, three homeruns and eight RBI so far this year for the Yellow Jackets.
