10TH-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS AT THIRD-RANKED ADELPHI, 11-5

Garden City, N.Y. – Christina McCabe tallied five points to lead third-ranked Adelphi University to an 11-5 victory over the 10th-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Motamed Field.

"After a competitive 1st half, we lost some steam and unfortunately couldn't execute on the offensive end," said head coach Liz Beville. "Overall, I thought both teams had great defensive days."

The Dolphins started the scoring on the first possession of the game as senior attacker Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) tallied her 43rd goal of the season at the 13:44 mark off a feed from freshman attacker Grace Detor (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee).

The Panthers answered back 91 seconds later as Gianna Bifulco posted her 11th goal of the year.

Le Moyne regained the lead with just five seconds left in the quarter as sophomore attacker Sarah Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) netted her 20th goal of the campaign after collecting a pass in transition from senior midfielder Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee).

Adelphi took its first lead with the first two goals of the second quarter. The Panthers knotted the score for the second time with 13:33 remaining as Kerrin Heuser netted her 26th goal of the season. Emily Beier put her team in front for the first time with her 19th tally of the year with 8:43 left.

The Dolphins tied the score for the final time with 6:51 left as graduate student midfielder Sydney Meagher (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) scooped up a loose ball after her initial shot was blocked and fired it home for her 22nd goal of the campaign.

Adelphi scored four times in the third quarter to take control of the game. McCabe started the run just 15 seconds into the quarter as Heuser picked up the ball off a Le Moyne turnover, raced up field and then found a wide-open McCabe, who tallied her 22nd goal of the year. Bifulco doubled her team's lead with an unassisted marker with 8:33 remaining after collecting a loose ball off a missed shot. McCabe pushed the margin to three with an extra-player goal with 4:50 left. Heuser completed the quarter's scoring with 35 seconds left after taking a pass from McCabe in an extra-player situation.

Heuser extended the run to five straight goals with her third tally of the day just 73 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Nojaim stopped the run and got the Dolphins on the scoreboard in the second half by converting a free-position shot with 11:18 left in the game.

Adelphi pushed its lead to six for the first time with a pair of goals in a span of 70 seconds. Beier scored with 7:39 remaining off a pass from McCabe, who then fed Izzy Grant for her 28th
goal of the year with 6:29 to go.

Meneilly recorded her 44th goal of the year with 1:43 left to finish off Le Moyne's scoring after taking a pass from freshman attacker Reagan McQuade (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell).

The Panthers closed out the game's scoring with 25 seconds left as Jamie Mecca netted her eighth goal of the year off a pass in an extra-player situation from Beier.

Third-year sophomore goalkeeper Paige Crandall (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) recorded four saves in the setback for the Dolphins. Emma Lemanski earned the win after making three saves.

Le Moyne (9-4, 6-3 NE10), which has dropped three conference games for the first time since 2014 (when the Dolphins also lost to Stonehill, New Haven and Adelphi), returns home to host The College of Saint Rose on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
