34TH-RANKED MEN’S TENNIS REMAINS UNBEATEN IN NE10 WITH 7-0 WIN OVER ADELPHI

DeWitt, N.Y. – The 34th-ranked Le Moyne College men's tennis team improved to 6-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action with a 7-0 victory over Adelphi University on Wednesday night at Elevate Fitness.

"Solid team victory by the men tonight," said head coach Jeff Lonczak '03. "The second and third doubles spots put together solid performances to capture the point. In singles, Tom and Manny really showed the kind of focus that it takes to beat good players easily. From a team perspective, we need to step it up on Friday for SNHU. It'll be our biggest challenge to date."

Le Moyne won the point in the doubles competition for the 17th straight match. Graduate student Manuel Righi (Bologna, Italy/IPC Manfredi - ITC Tanari/Concordia (N.Y.)/Universita di Bologna) and freshman Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) won their 15th consecutive match, 6-1, over Pietro Sole and Thiago Negrao at the second position. Fifth years Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and James Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) won for the eighth time in dual matches with a 6-3 victory at the third spot over Valentin Le Goupil-Maier and Andrew Ray. Marko Jovanovic and Gabriel Balestero prevented the sweep with a 6-4 win at the first position over fifth year Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School).

The Dolphins swept the singles competition for the 10th time this season. At the first spot, Jarry won his sixth straight match and his 17th of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jovanovic. Righi remained unbeaten at 14-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Balestero at the second position. Jared Howard won the tightest match of the night, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6, at the third spot over Sole. Hatton won a pro set at the fourth position over Negrao, 8-6, for his 13th win of the year. Junior Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) tallied his team-leading 15th match victory, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2), over Luke Attride-Stirling at the fifth spot. Miller registered his team-best sixth NE10 win of the season, 8-5, at the sixth spot over Le Goupil-Maier.

Le Moyne (18-1, 6-0 NE10), which is first in the NCAA East Region rankings for the second straight week, closes out the regular season on Friday afternoon against Southern New Hampshire University at the Skytop Tennis Courts. The winner of the match will claim the NE10 regular season title and will be the top seed in next week's NE10 Championship.
