SOFTBALL SPLITS CONFERENCE DOUBLEHEADER AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

Rindge, N.H. – The Le Moyne College softball team split their Sunday afternoon Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Franklin Pierce University.

The Ravens scored three runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to earn a 5-2 victory in game one, then the Dolphins struck first in game two, scoring two runs in the top of the 1st inning and held onto the lead to earn a 2-0 victory during the second half of the doubleheader.

Cassidy Barrett (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) launched a two-run home run during game one, then went 2-3 with a walk and a run scored during Le Moyne's 2-0 win.

Lindsey Dobbs (Schenectady, N.Y./Colonie) started game two in the circle for the 'Phins and delivered 5.0 scoreless innings. Laura Bennett (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) struck out four batters during the final two innings to earn the save and secure the win for the 'Phins.

Victoria Catalano (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) recorded a hit in game one, then smacked a two-RBI double in game two to provide Le Moyne with the runs they needed to earn a victory on the road.

Isabelle Boudreau (Memramcook, New Brunswick/Mathieu-Martin/Pace) reached base safely to lead off the top of the 1st inning during game one, then Brooke Nicolaos (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) moved her into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt.

Le Moyne's three-hitter, Barrett, came to the plate next and smashed a two-run homerun to give the Dolphins an early 2-0 lead.

The Ravens tied the game in the bottom of the inning via a single, a double, and a two-RBI single.

Mariah Lopez hit a two-RBI double for the Ravens in the bottom of the 4th, then Bella Williams hit an RBI double to put Franklin Pierce up 5-2.

The Dolphins loaded the bases in the top of the 5th inning, but FPU starting pitcher Sabrina Gonzalez recorded a strikeout to end the inning.

Boudreau led off the top of the 7th inning for Le Moyne with a double into center field, and Alyssa Dybacz (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) moved her to third with a fly ball to right-center field.

With two outs and a runner on third, Ravens relief pitcher Abbey Primavera got a ground ball to end the inning and earn the save during the Ravens' 5-2 win.

Once again during game two Le Moyne scored two runs during the opening frame.

Nicolaos hit a one-out single into center field to give the Dolphins their first base runner of the contest, then Barrett hit an infield single. With zero outs and runners on first and second, Dybacz hit a deep fly ball that allowed both runners to tag up and advance a base.

With runners on second and third, Catalano hit a line drive into the left-center field gap, driving in both Nicolaos and Barrett to put the 'Phins up 2-0.

Dobbs allowed a leadoff double during the bottom of the 3rd inning, but the sophomore right-hander got three consecutive ground balls to end the inning and maintain the shutout.

Dobbs allowed a leadoff base hit in the bottom of the 5th, but once again got three ground balls during the inning to keep the Ravens scoreless.

Bennett, who pitched 5.0 innings during the game one contest, returned to the circle in game two for the bottom of the 6th inning.

Bennett did not allow a run during the bottom of the 6th, then struck out three hitters (all swinging) during a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th to complete the victory and earn the save.

The Dolphins will return home to play a NE10 doubleheader against Bentley University on Tuesday afternoon at the Le Moyne College Softball Complex.
