Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) recorded six points to lead the 10th-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 20-7 victory over Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday afternoon at Jess Dow Field.
"After a close first half, I'm proud of how we started the third quarter and held SCSU scoreless," said head coach
Liz Beville. "Everyone who came off the bench today contributed in a positive way and helped secure today's win. We look forward to closing out the regular season Saturday."
The Dolphins jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the opening 10 and one-half minutes. Meneilly started the scoring at the 12:39 mark by finishing off a pass from junior attacker
Gemma Addonizio (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) in front of the crease. Senior midfielder
Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) followed with her 23rd goal of the year with 9:05 remaining in the quarter. Addonizio and Meneilly traded roles from the game's first goal with 4:24 left for a 3-0 advantage.
Bayleigh Takacs got the Owls on the scoreboard with 2:59 to go.
Sophomore attacker
Sarah Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) answered 40 seconds later with her 27th tally of the season.
Karlie Rowe completed the quarter's scoring only 25 seconds later off a feed from Takacs.
Le Moyne pushed its lead to five with the first three goals of the second quarter. Addonizio netted her 26th goal of the campaign at the 12:57 mark off a dish from Nojaim. Meneilly followed at the 11:08 mark after collecting a pass from graduate student midfielder

Kelly Thomas (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) tallied her fifth goal of the year 24 seconds later to put the Dolphins up 7-2.
The Owls answered with a 3-0 run of their own to get back within two. In an extra-player situation, Savannah Feinberg scored with 7:05 left in the quarter. Rowe netted her second goal of the game with 5:48 to go off a pass from Morgan Reilly. Mia Pulisciano followed with 4:10 remaining after taking a feed from Takacs.
The Dolphins closed out the quarter with another three-goal run. Meneilly registered her 50th goal of they year with 3:48 until halftime off another pass from Meagher, who tallied the team's ninth goal with just 34 seconds left on a free-position shot. Just 17 seconds later and with only 17 seconds left in the half, Hutchings found the back of the net off a dish from redshirt junior midfielder
Katelyn Karleski (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.).
Le Moyne scored all four goals of the third quarter to extend its lead to nine. Meagher started the streak just 57 seconds into the half by converting a free-position shot. After almost 10 minutes of scoreless play, Meneilly tallied her fourth goal of the game. Senior defender
Taylor Reich (Marietta, N.Y./Marcellus) recorded her second goal of the season with 1:09 left. With only 20 seconds left in the quarter, Meneilly found the back of the net for the 52nd time this season.
Meagher gave the Dolphins a double-digit lead for the first time in the game just 21 seconds into the fourth quarter off a pass from Addonizio with her 30th goal of the campaign.
Rowe snapped her team's scoring drought of 24:53 at the 9:17 mark off a pass from Brianna Shaw.
Hutchings pushed the lead back to 10 with 7:40 left off a pass from Karleski, who followed by converting a free-position shot at the 5:23 mark for her 14th goal of the year.
Takacs completed Southern Connecticut's scoring with 3:30 to play.
Le Moyne scored three goals over the final 2:12 to finish off the game's scoring. Freshman midfielder
Haley Emmick (Victor, N.Y./Victor) tallied her fourth goal of the season with 2:12 to go off a free-position shot. Sophomore midfielder
Reilly Geer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) converted a free-position shot with 52 seconds left for her eighth goal of the campaign. Senior attacker
Molly Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) ended the game with her third goal of the year with six seconds left.
Junior goalkeeper
Paige Crandall (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) recorded six saves (against five goals) over 47:09 to earn her 12th victory of the season. Sophie Kurtz made 11 saves in the loss.
Le Moyne (12-4, 9-3 NE10) closes out the regular season on Saturday at Southern New Hampshire University at 2:00 p.m.
